picnic in the garden

Following on from Evies pretend picnics I told her that we could have a picnic in the garden on Thursday ;o)

So on Thursday morning after I had got Evie dressed I popped out and got out her play tent, rocking horse and toy buggy.

tent and rocking horse waiting to be played with

After I had got our food all ready (being placed on the windowsill) I put the suncream on her and we went outside.

Evie was quite happily pushing her toy monkey Sidney around in the pushchair ;o)

Evie pushing Sidney
Evie coming over to say hello
Evie making sure that Sidney is covered up
ner ner ner nerner ner

She then decided to sit in the tent...

having a sit down in the tent

...then deciding that she wanted to eat her lunch in the tent...
eating her lunch in the tent

...then she decided that she wanted the flaps down (she may not have wanted to see me but she did let me talk to her ;o)).

your cramping my style

She did decide to come out in the end though ;o)

Ok I will honour you with my presence ;o)

We then came in after lunch and Evie watched tv while I did the washing up ;o)

Phone call

Having taken Evie to pre school I was having a relax with a cup of tea and my phone started ringing - I looked at the screen and it was her pre school.

So I answered the call and they said that she had a slight temperature and she was lying around more than normal and could I pick her up early.

So I went to the toilet and then set off to pick her up.  I got there and Evie was in the toilet as soon as she saw me she shouted "mummy" if she was feeling poorly I would have expected her to start crying, but she demanded her monster munch instead ;o).

So I signed her out and she fell asleep on our way home so I left her in the buggy.

She has just woken up and I have taken her temperature and it is fine (I took mine as well and hers was less than mine), she has eaten some spaghetti shapes and is now eating a chocolate custard.

So whatever the thing was earlier she is over it (for the moment anyway).

pretend picnic

For the last few days Evie has been having pretend picnics on the lounge floor ;o)

So today we are going to have a proper picnic in the garden ;o)

I have got out the picnic rug, and yesterday I bought some blueberries, pasta salad, and sweetcorn fritters.

And last night I cooked us some sausages, I am going to have a sausage sandwich for my lunch and Evie can have one chopped up too and cooked 2 of the sweetcorn fritters to eat, and we will have a bag each of monster munch too ;o)

Yesterday and today

Yesterday Evie was watching TV after having her breakfast (her current favourite is chocolate spread on toast) I kept on asking her if she wanted to go to the toilet and she kept on saying "no thank you".
When we went up to get changed I noticed a bulge in her knickers - she had done a poop, as her knickers weren't too bad I washed them out.

Then we went into town and I tried a new drink in Starbucks a ;o). As we were about to leave I asked Evie if she wanted the toilet and she said " no thank you" so I said that as we had a long walk home I wanted her to try, so no sooner had I sat her down she did another poop I tried to get her to carry on sitting down to see if she wanted to do anymore but she was wriggling about too much, so I cleaned her up and we went home.

Every time I passed a toilet I would ask her if she wanted the toilet and she would say "no thank you" and she then fell asleep.

We got home and she stayed asleep and when she woke up I noticed that she had done a wee and when I got her up I saw some poop on her seat first of all I thought that it was from where I hadn't cleaned her up properly but getting her to the toilet I saw that she had done another poop!

This morning Evie got up (in a grumbly mood) and I got her to sit in the toilet while I took off her pullup napoy and we were about to come downstairs and Evie said she wanted the toilet so I asked her if she wanted to do another wee and she said she wanted to do a poop and then did one ;o)

another cold

The other day Evie was more whingey about things, so I knew that she would be coming down with something.

Yesterday she woke up with a cold (as she was and is still in good spirits) I took her to Tumble Tots and apart from a snotty sneeze when we got there she was ok ;o)

Last night (as she has a cough) we put her vapouriser on she was still coughing a bit but managed to sleep until 7am ;o)  She has been waking up from 5.15am onwards with the mornings being really light at the moment.

I have checked the weather and both today and Thursday (at the moment) are supposed to be dry.  As I have something to get in town I think that we will go into town this morning.

My weather app also says that next week (when the 3 foot people festival is on) its going to be light showers :o(.

Hopefully the weather will be ok on the day that we are going.

horsey

This morning while James was putting the shopping away Evie was playing at being a horse ;o)

First of all she was getting me to be a horse too, and then when I got out my camera she was just interested in seeing the video that I took ;o)

pre-order

On Tuesday we went into town to get Evies feet measured (they havent grown incidentally).

I was walking past Waterstones and I saw in the window that you can pre order Grey for £3.99.  I would have ordered it on Amazon but you now have to spend £10 (on books) for free delivery!

So I went in and went upto the counter and said that I would like to pre -order the book.

The bloke took my details (surname and mobile/cell phone number) and told me that I should be nice to the person standing next to him as he had been putting the stickers on the books ;o)

He said that he had read the first page so I asked if the "naughty" bits started on the first page and he said that he didnt think that there were going to be any "naughty" bits so I said that there going to be lots of disappointed women...

As I dont fancy going into town today (the book is available from today) I am going to get James to pick the book up for me.

no moaning

Having bought the detangle spray yesterday I decided to try to last night...

...so after her bath I towel dried her hair (as it says to do it on wet or towel dried hair) and I sprayed it over her hair (avoiding her eyes) and surprisingly enough it worked.

Evie didnt moan or try to get away from me so it was a success ;o)

I just have to try it again this morning on her dry hair now ;o)

Sunday 14 June 2015

de-tangle-ay

At swimming lesson yesterday I was sitting next to a Mum whose daughter has long hair (her hair is longer than Evies) as Evie moans and groans when I try to brush her hair I asked the other Mum how her daughter was.

She said that she uses a detangle spray.so this morning while we were shopping we picked this up, I will try it tonight after Evie has had her bath ;o)  Hopefully it will make brushing her hair easier ;o)

When I pick Evie up from pre school it always reminds me of visiting time at the zoo as the kiddies all crowd around the door looking for Mummy or Daddy.

On Friday we got "told off" as we are a distraction to the kiddies and that we should wait in the foyer until 12.05 I thought that we could pick the kids up at 12.00, when I signed Evie out I said that I would make sure that I leave home 5 minutes later ;o)

speaking to the health visitor

On Tuesday afternoon I spoke to the Health Visitor about Evies stammering.

I explained to her how Evie is ok (most of the time) with reciting things such as if Im reading Mr Nosey to her she can recite the words as well as when she is watching some episodes of Peppa Pig.

She seems to have her main trouble when she is thinking about what she wants to say.

She then asked if Evie has any problems with hearing and I said that I dont think she has although she does tend to ignore me if she is watching something (but that is more of a case of "blocking" Mum out ;o)).

She also asked if Evie had her two year check and she asked if the health visitor ahd any concerns about Evies speech then and I said that she was fine then and that it has only started within the last 6 weeks.

She then said to leave it a month before she will look into doing a referral (as it sounds to her like she will hopefully grow out of it) and I will call her if Evie is still stammering (I have her mobile number in my smartphone as well as a reminder ;o)).

I asked her about the assessment and she said that because I dont have any other concerns it would be more of just having a chat rather than a full health assessment.

Im not sure if its jsut our imagination but Evie does seem to be getting better and not stammering quite so much.

Yesterday I mentioned the conversation with her pre school just so they are in the loop too ;o)

Tuesday 9 June 2015

got my money back

Yesterday at Tumble Tots the DVD guy was back...

...and he gave me back my £5 that I was owed for the dvd that couldnt be repaired.

As there were only three ladies doing Tumble Tots yesterday they did a circuit rather than stations at some point each one of us Mums seemed to be guiding our little ones into going in the right direction ;o)

Last week because of where I was sitting Evies name went onto the list right at the bottom.

So just as the end song was beginning I went upto the lady who runs Tumble Tots when it would be Evies turn and she said that Evie could be done next (thus pushing her up in the queue by four children).

I had already asked Evie which adventure she would like to do this time (as there are two left "fairground" and "under the sea") she chose "under the sea" ;o).

So once we got our sample DVD we headed home and she actually stayed awake and had her lunch before crashing out ;o).

I have watched the DVD and was laughing my head off watching Evie looking through the binoculars the wrong way around and bursting the bubbles that the man was blowing ;o)

I asked Evie this morning if she would like to watch herself on tv and she said "no".

I think that I will watch them tomorrow when she is at pre school ;o).

Sunday 7 June 2015

seeing the health visitor

So on Thursday I took Evie to see the health visitor.

We left here just after one knowing that the session started at 1.30 pm.

I had just left our road when I realised that I had left the changing bag back at home I ummed and ahhed about whether to go back to get it and decided that if I didnt then Evie would have an accident or spill something down herself.

So I went back and get her bag...

...and we set off again and this time I realised that I had forgotten my smartphone (and I decided that that could be left at home as I really couldnt be bothered to go back again).

So we eventually got there and I put Evies red book in the basket (the other Mums were doing that too).

We got called and I told the Health Visitor about Evies stammering, the first thing she said to me was "you didnt have to come here you could have just called" and then she was explaining to me the procedure...

...a health visitor would come to do a home visit to hear Evie talking in a familiar environment, and that they would do a hearing test to make sure that she could hear properly and then would decide whether to refer her to a speech therapist.

There was another Health Visitor too and she told me that her Nursery School could also refer her so I said that I would ask at her pre school for some advice.

To say that I was a bit worried after that was an understatement.

As it was it was a good thing that I decided to go back for Evies bag as we went for a drink after, I had a skinny latte and Evie had hot chocolate (in a teapot no less) ;o) And Evie knocked her beaker of warm chocolate over herself.

On Friday when I took Evie to pre school I asked the supervisor if I could chat to her about Evies stammering and she said yes that was ok.

She told me that she can refer Evie to speech therapy and that the Health Visitor could do the assessment there (as Evie would be more likely to speak and she could see her playing rather than her keeping schtum because there is a stranger in her house, so I told her that it was a better idea.

When I picked Evie up at lunchtime we went through a form allowing the pre school to speak to the Health Visitor on our behalf (I did ask whether they would want me to be there and they pointed out that Evie would be more likely to play if I wasnt there) and bang on queue Evie reinforced that advice by wanting to cuddle me as we were going through the forms.

She said that she would get the referral forms later and that we can always cancel the sessions if Evies speech improves in the meantime.

going to see the health visitor today

This afternoon we are going to see the health visitor.

The weigh in clinics are always in the afternoon (and out of the three that I can get to) this afternoons one is on a day when we dont have anything else on.

I have just got her red book out as I musnt forget that, and they are bound to weigh her and to ask about the potty training as I asked the about it in October last year.

I just hope that Evie does some stammering when we are talking to the health visitor.
