How terrible...
...I completely forgot that its St Georges Day!
LOL it must be the lack of it being a public holiday :o(
I remember playing the princess when at Junior School (I must have been 8 or 9) we did a puppet show of George & The Dragon and a friend who was playing St George ad libbed and offered to make her a cup of tea ;o)
Isnt it funny the things we remember ;o)
despite being a chocoholic I have managed to lose 4 and a half stone in 12 months. This is my diary of the highs and lows of trying to keep the weight off (or at least under reasonable control).

a bank holiday joust
We were undecided about what to do on the bank holiday so I had a look online and found that there was a jousting tournament at Headingham Castle...
...so thats what we decided to do ;o)
We got there just after it had opened (our thinking was that if it was rubbish then we could leave early and do something else).
As I had been in the castle before (for a friends wedding in 2003) I let James go in while I sat with Evie on the blanket that I had bought with us.
When James got back he had a look at the stalls (there were only about 8 of them although there was room for more) and then I had a look and bought Evie a chocolate chip cookie to eat (and I got myself a brownie too), I then had a look at the food stands to decide what I wanted for my lunch and decided on a hog roast roll ;o)
Then just before 11.30 we heard them announcing the start of the jester show - he was very funny and was speaking like a child does - first of all we were sitting on the grass and then Evie started trying to crawl away from me so we stood up and when the maypole dancing started we made our way back to where James was (as it was coming up for Evies lunch time) we had just some little snacky bits to eat - she loved sitting on the blanket eating her lunch ;o).
I got my hog roast in a roll it was really nice and came with crackling too ;o)
Then at 12.30 the show started - King Henry VIII was comparing the show and was very funny ;o)
It started with a kids parade (they asked for 6 or 7 children and about 100 went up ;o))
James and Evie were watching the tournament too
The knights then started practicing by picking up severed heads!
Then there was a fight between the 2 blue knights
then the jousting started
then big burly Bob (as in Blackadder Goes Forth) was caught skinny dipping in the lake and was punished by being dragged by a horse while in a sack.
a mustang and a helicopter flew over head
then there was picking up hoops
and a sword fight
and then the end
I really enjoyed the show and told King Henry on our way out ;o)

being forced to watch more than I wanted to
We had an extra Public Holiday thanks to the Royal Wedding.
LOL not wanting to be chucked into jail I turned onto one of the many tv channels that was showing it to catch Kate & Wills leaving Westminster Abbey.
Great I thought to myself "I have done my bit"...
So at 8.30 pm I turn on the TV to watch Coronation Street only for a newsflash to come onto screen (complete with coverage) that Kate & Wills are about to go to their evening reception...
...did I want to know this? NO I DIDNT!
LOL I even checked the on screen tv guide to make sure that they hadnt decided to screw up the evening tv schedule too!
What was the tv coverage like for my non UK friends?

why cant we have both?
I saw on the cover of todays Metro this article that they are thinking of moving the May Day Bank Holiday to either St Georges Day the 23rd April or Trafalgar Day the 21st October.
By all means move May Day because lets face it we have too many of our bank holidays all squashed together on the calendar what with Easter (by far one of my favourite holidays because of the chocolates that am able to eat without James having a pop at me) being at the end of April this year then the following week we have May Day then four weeks later we have Whitsun.
But why oh why oh why cant we have both St Georges Day and Trafalgar Day? We have the fewest Bank Holidays like anywhere and having one extra will improve morale LOL it will improve mine anyway ;o)

yipee an extra public holiday next year
I can see our office television out of the corner of my eye...
..I was busily working away (well I do sometimes ;o)) and I saw it flash up in a "breaking news" that a date has been set for Wills & Kates wedding, so I was eagerly watching to see when the date was...
...it is 29th April 2011, so I checked on the diary to see what day it is and its a Friday, I thought the possibility of a day off looks promising ;o)
Then I saw it flash up that it will be a matter for the Scottish parliament if they get a day off, this really grabbed my attention, so I stopped what I was doing with my eyes glued to the screen...
...then it came up that the day will be a public holiday ;o)
I went and got my lunch out from the bottom of the fridge, bought it back to my desk went to get it out of the bag and saw that it has frozen itself!
So I popped over to Pret a Manger and got myself a lentil and bacon soup ;o)
