funky hair day

Today at school Evies house is having its fundraiser (there are 4 houses in total and they each have their own fundraiser and hers is first), each house has their own charity.

It is funky hair day and they can come in in non uniform or home clothes as Evie calls them :)

It is £1 for non uniform and 20p to enter the funky hair competition (Evie has already said she doesnt want to do the competition but I have put 20p in her bag for it anyway) to enter you just have your photo taken doing a silly pose and there are 3 prizes for the funkiest hair for the infants and juniors :)

Evie wouldnt let me do her hair too funky so this is what we went for...

book sale

Evies school has a second hand book sale on, I have put 50p in her bag (last time I forgot to tell her it was in there and the teacher didnt notice it either!).

Last year Evie got a great book, I will have to see what she chooses this time :)

At Evies school it is anti bullying week and the theme is all different all equal...

...the kids are being asked to come into school today wearing odd socks :)

the socks ore rarity and flutterby

The kids arent being asked to make a donation as on Friday it is Children in Need and the kids can go in in non uniform (or home clothes as Evie calls it) :)

cakes and advent chocolates

On Friday Evies school took part n the worlds biggest coffee morning...

..LOL I even bought a tub with me so that I could get a couple of cakes for James & Evie :)

In reception year Evie was allowed to eat her cake in her classroom but from Year 1 they make the kids wait to eat their cakes :(  Evie had chosen a butterfly cake :)

the victoria sponge was for me, Evie had the brownie and then I had the cupcake yesterday

Yesterday we were doing our grocery shopping, and in the seasonal aisle I saw that they had advent calendars, so me & Evie chose one each :)

my one

Evies one
We have got to get one for James now (although he will not be having it! :))

cake interview and wicked witches

(Ok by the title you have probably already guessed the outcome :)).

I got home from dropping Evie off at school and called the wicked witch guy and he told me that unfortunately they werent interviewing on any other days...

...so my interview is at 11am next Monday...

..it is for 5 hours per week on a Sunday morning :)

Today at Evies school they are holding a coffee morning I am taking in a  shop bought swiss roll and I am also taking in a tub for a cake for James and Evie.  Evie already has a 50p in her bag for a cake to have at school.  She has already told me that she is going to chose a chocolate cake :)

bubbles and english test

On Friday I got an e-mail from a fashion retailer asking me to complete (what I thought was an English test).

It was actually 8 scenarios and I had to say what I think is the best/worst way to respond (in English).

I will have to see if they invite me for an interview...

Today me & Evie did bubble rush :)

Evie covered in bubbles from the green bubble pit
Luckily she didnt need me to give her a piggy back ride but she did make James carry her to McDonalds :)

And I have another interview (its with a retail store as an admin person Tuesday to Friday 12 pm to 5 pm) and that is on Wednesday :)

charity interview

Yesterday I had my interview for a paid job with a charity...

...like interview #7 the charities base is in a house (the houses next to it are all boarded up where the whole block is due to be demolished.

There was one really oddball question (the others were to do with addicts).

How would I feel if I got offered the job?

I said that I would say hooray and get a chinese

and then they asked...

...how would I feel if I didnt get offered the job?

I said that I would keep on looking and that this is my 11th interview so Im used to getting rejections now :)

I also said if I get the job I get the job and if I dont I dont.

I really cant work out what answer they wanted :)

I will find out this morning (after they have slept on it)

They also said that there were 70+ applicants so I did well to get an interview :)

tears and interview #11

When I picked Evie up for the last time from the Early Years gate at her school it suddenly hit me that it was the very last time I would be picking her up from there...

,,,she will no longer be in reception year :(

I think that all us Mums got a bit tearful (there was no actual sobbing) and the teaching assistants were getting tearful too.

Her teacher even gave a speech saying how proud he was of all of the kids and how he would still see them about the school and enjoying seeing them grow up.

He even gave each kid a hug on their way out and so did the teaching assistants so it was all really lovely.

I dont remember getting goodbye hugs from my teachers...

...I think they were just glad to see the back of us :)

We went to the playground on our way home and as I usually do I checked my e-mails...

...and there was an invite to another interview...

...this time for a paid job with a charity.

It is 3 and a half hours a day five days a week.

So I will have to see how it goes.

My interview is on Thursday and James will have to leave work a bit early so he can look after Evie as they didnt want to leave it to after he had finished work.

I am really excited about it :)

flamingo dress

At Evies school for Children in Need the theme is to wear something spotty :)

So I trawled through Evies stuff and found a flamenco dress that we bought her on holiday a couple of years ago.

She has been telling me that she has been telling people that she is going to wear a flamingo dress :)

so here she is in her flamingo dress :)

ole :)

no tears Friday

On Friday I was all set for the tears as we were about to get ready to leave, and surprisingly enough she didnt cry...

...it could have been to do with the fact that |I told her that she could buy a cake or just that she is getting more used to it now :)

Talking of cakes Evie chose a chocolate one (no surprise there) and I had 2 as it was £1 for 1 or £1.50 for 2, and a cup of tea was £1 too.

I had a butterfly cake and a chocolate cake pop and they were both lovely :)

I did think about saving 1 for James but decided not to as he probably wouldnt eat it :)

Lunchwise she says that she has liked everything, so I will update her lunch menu until half term at the end of October.

When I was leaving school on Friday it was playtime I looked in the EYFS playground to see if I could see Evie and she wasnt playing, then I saw her in the classroom doing something with Mrs C.

I asked her about whether she plays out at playtime and she says that she doesnt :(.

Hopefully soon enough she will realise how much fun she can have.

she can chose a cake today

Today is an exciting day at school (and not just because its Friday) :)

Her school are holding a MacMillan coffee morning this morning.

I have faked it and bought a swiss roll from M&S :)

I spoke to Evies teacher yesterday and he said that she does eat slowly but is enjoying her lunch, but they will keep an eye on her and will let me know how she gets on :)

And crucially she isnt left on her own and the dinner ladies are still in there with her, so thats good too :)

She had meatballs for lunch yesterday and again she said that she liked them and chocolate arctic roll for dessert which she liked too :)

And she said that she had a play after her lunch so she must have been a bit quicker at eating :)

parent tour #5 and santa and the easter bunny

On Friday we did our final parent tour ;o)

Like school #3 we were shown around by the year 6 kids but with this school there were 2 kids per set of parents ;o)

The school was really nice and even has its own swimming pool.

As with all of the schools the EYFS have their own play area.

And I even know one of the teaching assistants (cant remember what year it was that she was working with) as she used to live around the corner from us in Ingatestone.

We have now put in our submission for our school choices

number 1 - school 5,
number 2 - school 4
number 3 - school 3
number 4 - school 1

We are in choice 3's catchment area but it isnt our nearest school, on the admission form (which has to be done online) you are able to put a reason for each school (upto 3000 characters long), I put a reason for choice 1 but only used 90 characters as I didnt want to go annoying anyone with a long sob story ;o)

With choice 2 we have to fill in a SIF so I shall pop it into the school before the deadline in Jamuary.

Yesterday we were in town and Chelmsford Rotary Club were in town with Santa and his sleigh...

...as Evie is now very much aware of Santa and the fact that he will be bring her Christmas presents she wanted to say hello to him (despite us telling her that we were in a hurry to get ready for her swimming lesson).

So we went over to say hello, and Santas helper asked me if I wanted to take a photo of Evie with Santa ;o)

Evie and the Easter Bunny saying hello to Santa
So I ended up getting Eve to put a coin in the charity box ;o)

little red (nose) riding hood

On Friday it was Red Nose Day and Evies pre-school said that the kiddies could dress up for £1, the theme was something furry.

So when I woke Evie up I told her that it was a special day and that she could dress up, so I got her outfits out (including the piggy onesie that my Mum had got her) and Evie decided that she wanted to wear Little Rid Riding Hood ;o)

the only photo I got of Evie wearing her nose

I had brought me & Evie a red nose each (when I opened them I was hoping that we would have a different one each so that she could chose which one she like) but we both had the astrosnort one ;o)

a nose each
me wearing my nose

Today here in the UK is Mothers Day - so happy Mothers Day Mum ;o)

Evie had made me a card at pre-school - when I said to her "you made me a lovely card" she told me that it was "for Daddy" ;o)

2 cards for Mummy - James drew the glasses on the bottom card to make it look more like Evie ;o)

a fairy it was

I gave Evie the choice fairy or pirate...

...and she chose fairy ;o)

she loved wearing her fairy dress
She loved wearing teh dress so much that she didnt want to take it off ;o)

Friday, 14 November 2014

pirate or fairy?

As today is Children in Need Evie is going in dressed as a "superhero" (with a £1 going to charity for the privilege ;o))

The only outfits that we have for her are for a fairy or a pirate so they will have to do.

Or if the outfits are too big for her then we have some doctor pajamas or pirate pajamas as a back up plan ;o)

tree lights cards

As Evie is more aware of things now I thought that we had better buy a proper christmas tree (as opposed to the arty farty one we had before she was even born).

our old arty farty tree

So today whole doing our food shop I bought a four foot tree and 80 white lights.

I will have to buy some chocolate decorations for the tree too ;o)

James popped into the Cancer Research charity shop and while we were standing outside I saw a box of 30 school christmas cards I thought that they will be good for her to give to her new friends when she starts pre-school in a few weeks time ;o)  And as she isnt going to know 30 people we can always use up the other ones ;o)

sporting challenge

Yesterday at Tumble Tots we had a sporting challenge (cycling - because of the tour de France coming through Essex, Tennis because of Wimbledon, Rowing because there is a dragon boat race taking place on Sunday, and football because of the World Cup in aid of charity.

We were given a sponsorship form but typically I couldnt find it when James took Evie to see his Mum & Dad on Friday - so I just took the money that we had sponsored Evie (we dd £1 per event ;o)).

I think that Evies favourite events were the cycling (because of crawling through a tunnel) and rowing (because of the wobbly plank for the dragon boat), she also liked the tennis beacuse she hit two tethered balloons (in a protective cover) with childrens tennis racquets ;o)

Evie was her usual tired self and fell asleep on our way home ;o)
