tap dancing shoes

The other week was Evies last tap dancing lesson before the Easter holidays...

...todays plan was (or rather still is) to go into town and get Evies next passport photos done and to see if her tap dancing shoes need changing.

I looked in the bag and they werent in there so I texted James in case he remembered putting them anywhere else, and he cant so Im guessing that he must have left them in there after her lesson.

I have just e-mailed the dance company to see if they have been left there, ad if they have then I will get them checked after her next lesson at the weekend.

capacity and the letter

Yesterday while I was helping out in class the maths they were doing was on capacity of different objects...

a tub, milk bottle, jug box, and bottle

And after Mrs W (Miss B wasnt in yesterday morning) saw how much water each thing held (filling it with a small cup) the children then had to write down in order from greatest to smallest and then do comparisons between 2 objects as a sentence.

Such as "the capacity of the tub is less than the milk bottle".

I was helping J with it (she asked me to help her) and as Evie was sitting at the next table I was checking on her also.

Evie did it all properly and even wrote the sentence in her own words :) The teacher wrote down on the white board how the sentence should be written and then they had to do 1 on their own too.

It was then time to go home and Miss B got us helper Mums an Easter egg each (so that was nice) I told Evie on our way home after school and I told her that she could help me eat it :)

At pick up time Miss B gave me the letter for the doctor in an unsealed envelope so that we could read it.

I read it when Evie was having her dinner..

..there were a few thing in there that I thought were unfair...

...she said that Evie cant ride a bike, she doesnt have a bike and has never tried to ride one.

She also said about Evie sometimes having accidents at school where she is desperate for the toilet and that hasnt happened for about 5 months now.

She also said that Evie writes letters and number backwards (I have only ever seen her get b and d around the wromg way adn that hasnt been for quite a while also.

She also said that her drawings are immature!

So I am now gathering evidence before our appointment to show the doctor and will video her throwing a ball in the air and catching it.

raining every day

I looked at the BBC weather app this mornng and its supposed to rain every day for the next week...

..on Good Friday we try to go to Southend on Sea mainly because the parking on the seafront is free :)

But if the weather is rainy we will have to go somewhere else for the day...

pjs and eggs

Earlier in the week (after I had gotten my unicorn onesie), Evie had decided that she wanted a pajama onesie...

...I told her that I would have a look in town (in Primark) to see if I could get her one...

...I couldnt.

So yesterday as it was snowing again I put on my unicorn onesie and Evie wanted to wear her pajama onesie (which I couldnt get).

So today after I had finished work we went to Asda (Evie insisted that James stayed in the car).

We looked at the pajamas and found a paw patrol onesie, and then she found some flamingo pajamas too, so we got them also.

We also looked at the Easter eggs and bought one for me, Evie told me that we were going to share it after I had bought it :)

Gym Trail

Just before the Easter Holiday Evies teacher told me that he had put in (her book bag) details of the early morning club that he had told me about at her last parents evening.

Her club is on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

I have to get her to school by 8.30 (25 mins before they normally open the reception class doors).

Hopefully I can get her there on time :)

I have left her upstairs to get herself dressed...

As I had a nice lunch last week and Easter is coming up.

And the fact that I have 2 easter eggs (to get through)

I will not weigh myself again until the end of April :)

I am still being good though and am keeping the food diary going :)

Easter holiday jobs done

Now that Evie has started school, the school holidays are now about appointments...

...over Easter we had 2 things to do and we did them both this morning :)

Our first job was to get her feet measured (the last time she needed new shoes was back in August).

Her feet had grown and she has chosen some nice school shoes.

And because her feet are now up to teh next half size we have had to buy her plimsolls, trainers and crocs!

We also had her haircut too.

We can now enjoy the rest of her 2 weeks off doing fun stuff :)

the Easter holidays

Evie broke up on Friday for the Easter holidays...

...we have a few things planned... :)

On Monday were getting Evies hair cut and getting her feet measured (not both at the same time).

And one day in the week (not sure which day yet) Im going to take Evie to the cinema - she wants to watch The Smurfs Film.

We have already prewarned her that there is bound to be a scary bit in the middle but it will have a happy ending (hopefully :)).

Yesterday I finally got an e-mail regarding the investment job interview and I didnt get it...

...oh well :)

Yesterday I also picked up Evies (not even sprouted yet) bean stalk (I think that I will ask her teacher for a bean to plant in there).  Most of the others had planted save for a few so we will give it another go :).

Evie had some homework to bring in at the beginning of the week...

...it was to decorate a polystyrene egg like humpty dumpty :)

...she was supposed to bring it home with her yesterday and it wasnt in her bag, so I will ask her teacher about that too.

Its Evies last day before she breaks up for the Easter holiday so thats good :)

In Sainsburys the other week I bought Evie a Decorate your own egg...

...on Easter Sunday I got Evie to chose which egg she wanted (she chose her buttons egg) then later in the afternoon I heard a bang coming from the stairs and Evie had thrown her "decorate your own egg" down the stairs (as she didnt want to carry it)

No I dont know where she got that habit from ;o) *coughs* ;o)

Anyway yesterday we decided to do decorate the egg.

I got a table ready with newspaper (in case any of the icing went astray) and opened the egg and sure enough it was slightly broken (but not enough to ruin decorating the egg).

Evie has almost eaten all of her chocolate button egg.

I opened my marmite Easter egg and let Evie try it.  She decided that she doesn't like it.

She keeps telling me to eat one more bit of my Easter egg and when I say I want to save it for later she tells me that I haven't eaten enough of it :)

Yesterday at the end of Tumble Tots they were doing the birthdays and they asked Evie to stand up...

...so my Evie stood up and one of the ladies asked her if it was her birthday and she said "yes" so they gave her a card and a sticker,  I was just about to shout "its the wrong Evie" when the lady running it said that it was the wrong one.

So they asked Evie for the card and sticker back (why they couldnt have written a new card and got out another sticker is beyond me).

...so on our way home we went via Asda and Evie chose a card to replace the one that they wanted back.

While we were in there I treated myself to a marmite Easter egg ;o) and Evie chose a milkybar barnyard egg and we treated James to a lion egg to get the 3 for £10 offer ;o)

parent tour #5 and santa and the easter bunny

On Friday we did our final parent tour ;o)

Like school #3 we were shown around by the year 6 kids but with this school there were 2 kids per set of parents ;o)

The school was really nice and even has its own swimming pool.

As with all of the schools the EYFS have their own play area.

And I even know one of the teaching assistants (cant remember what year it was that she was working with) as she used to live around the corner from us in Ingatestone.

We have now put in our submission for our school choices

number 1 - school 5,
number 2 - school 4
number 3 - school 3
number 4 - school 1

We are in choice 3's catchment area but it isnt our nearest school, on the admission form (which has to be done online) you are able to put a reason for each school (upto 3000 characters long), I put a reason for choice 1 but only used 90 characters as I didnt want to go annoying anyone with a long sob story ;o)

With choice 2 we have to fill in a SIF so I shall pop it into the school before the deadline in Jamuary.

Yesterday we were in town and Chelmsford Rotary Club were in town with Santa and his sleigh...

...as Evie is now very much aware of Santa and the fact that he will be bring her Christmas presents she wanted to say hello to him (despite us telling her that we were in a hurry to get ready for her swimming lesson).

So we went over to say hello, and Santas helper asked me if I wanted to take a photo of Evie with Santa ;o)

catching a bus

Over the Easter weekend Evies glasses broke.

Last night I got a text message from the opticians saying that Evies glasses are now ready to be collecting from the eye clinic at Broomfield Hospital.

The eye clinic is on two days a week Monday in the afternoon and Tuesday in the morning.

So we are going to catch the bus this morning rather than wait until next Monday.

back to our routine

Now that the Easter Holidays are over its back to our normal term time routine...

...Tumble Tots today and pre school on Wednesday & Friday.

I think that the photographer is in this week so will have to remember to not put Evie in her Tumble Tots t-shirt ;o)

a good easter

I did a post Friday morning and it failed (from my not so smart smartphone!)  So I have uploaded it (again) this morning!

On Friday we ended up going to Lakeside Shopping Centre.

When we got there Evie had already decided that she wanted to have lunch at Wagamama ;o)

After we had a drink when we got there James took Evie for a walk about while I looked in the shops.

James then called me just before 12 to say that Evie wanted her lunch

.After lunch we decided to have a look in Hamleys as the store had recently opened there.

We were quite surprised that the prices were so expensive but I guess that they go with the Hamleys name!

We did see some lego ninja models ;o)

We then headed home as Evie was getting really tired.

On Sunday (as nothing was open) we headed into town and had a drink and then had lunch in McDonalds - and in their Monopoly promotion we won a free sundae ;o)

We played on the beach, and me & Evie shared a portion of chips ;o)

Because of the rain today we couldn't go to Southend....

We are still deciding what to do.

Evie has already decided that she wants to eat out ;o)
