pjs and eggs

Earlier in the week (after I had gotten my unicorn onesie), Evie had decided that she wanted a pajama onesie...

...I told her that I would have a look in town (in Primark) to see if I could get her one...

...I couldnt.

So yesterday as it was snowing again I put on my unicorn onesie and Evie wanted to wear her pajama onesie (which I couldnt get).

So today after I had finished work we went to Asda (Evie insisted that James stayed in the car).

We looked at the pajamas and found a paw patrol onesie, and then she found some flamingo pajamas too, so we got them also.

We also looked at the Easter eggs and bought one for me, Evie told me that we were going to share it after I had bought it :)

chuffins

On my way home from work this afternoon I popped into the supermarket to get James some bread rolls...

...I then saw the cheap reduced bakery items and looking for something that Evie might like too I saw some blueberry muffins :)

cheap blueberry muffins
Evie has already decided that she doesnt like them but Im sure she will change her mind come dessert time :)

spellings book

Since Friday I have been trying to get Evie to practice spelling the words that she has had trouble with.

So on Saturday we bought her a special book (while we were doing our food shop)  that she can practice her spellings in :)

it has yet to be decorated
some of the words successfully written
It has been hard work trying to get Evie to practice the words that she is having difficulty with, but we are determined to get her to do them after she has read her book when we get home from school.

cakes and advent chocolates

On Friday Evies school took part n the worlds biggest coffee morning...

..LOL I even bought a tub with me so that I could get a couple of cakes for James & Evie :)

In reception year Evie was allowed to eat her cake in her classroom but from Year 1 they make the kids wait to eat their cakes :(  Evie had chosen a butterfly cake :)

the victoria sponge was for me, Evie had the brownie and then I had the cupcake yesterday

Yesterday we were doing our grocery shopping, and in the seasonal aisle I saw that they had advent calendars, so me & Evie chose one each :)

my one

Evies one
We have got to get one for James now (although he will not be having it! :))

cake interview and wicked witches

(Ok by the title you have probably already guessed the outcome :)).

I got home from dropping Evie off at school and called the wicked witch guy and he told me that unfortunately they werent interviewing on any other days...

...so my interview is at 11am next Monday...

..it is for 5 hours per week on a Sunday morning :)

Today at Evies school they are holding a coffee morning I am taking in a  shop bought swiss roll and I am also taking in a tub for a cake for James and Evie.  Evie already has a 50p in her bag for a cake to have at school.  She has already told me that she is going to chose a chocolate cake :)

interview #14 and smartshop

Yesterday I had my 14th interview...

...I think it went well :)

It is a full time fixed 12 month contract working with the protected children team.

Understandably there were a lot of things about confidentiality I would say about what I did in my previous jobs such as shredding expired quotes and not telling brokers information about other clients etc.

I will find out next week.

I got an e-mail yesterday from Sainsburys saying that fast track will no longer be available in our store in three weeks time, but it is being replaced by smart shop...

...it seems that you use your smart phone as the scanning device :) I wonder if they will have one use chargers dotted around the store for you to buy :)

Hee hee you would need to scan it after you had started charging your phone :)

no toads

Ever since Evie has been having school dinners she has started to like yorkshire puddings...

...so I bought her some and she has had one each night with her dinner....

...and as she likes sausages and bacon, last night I did her some pigs in blankets (ready made) especially as they are everywhere for the run up to Christmas :)

So yesterday (as we were going food shopping) I asked Evie if she would like to try a toad in the hole and she looked at me in disgust and said that she doesnt want to eat a toad :)

So after some reassurance and explaining its just a silly name and its actually sausage in yorkshire pudding and showing her a packet of it she said that she will try it :).

she can chose a cake today

Today is an exciting day at school (and not just because its Friday) :)

Her school are holding a MacMillan coffee morning this morning.

I have faked it and bought a swiss roll from M&S :)

I spoke to Evies teacher yesterday and he said that she does eat slowly but is enjoying her lunch, but they will keep an eye on her and will let me know how she gets on :)

And crucially she isnt left on her own and the dinner ladies are still in there with her, so thats good too :)

She had meatballs for lunch yesterday and again she said that she liked them and chocolate arctic roll for dessert which she liked too :)

And she said that she had a play after her lunch so she must have been a bit quicker at eating :)

target set

Following my shock (ok truth be known not so much of a shock) weight gain I have set myself a target of 4 stone that I would like to lose (I will make do with 3 and a half stone) and would still be chuffed to lose a stone and a half to be at less than I was when I had my hernia operation.

Yesterday while doing our food shop I made sure that I got myself some lowish calorie desserts and something to satisfy my chocolate fix.

I have now set up my food diary (and I can get to it on my smartphone too) and it shows on there my starting weight, the goal that I want to lose and my % towards it :).

With Evie now its not so easy to go out for long walks especially when James is at work or out doing his Ingress stuff.

Couldve been

Better or worse.

I weighed myself this morning (I was hoping to do it before I ate my breakfast) but couldn't get to the weighing machine.

When we do our food shopping I will make sure that I don't buy any yummy bits that I usually snack on.

back to the food diary

For the past few days I have been looking for a gillet...

I looked in Primark and found one but didnt like the zip, then yesterday I had an e-mail from Sainsburys saying that they have 25% off clothing so as we were going in there for our midweek top up I had a look in there.

I found this one...

...I tried on the size that I thought I was and I couldnt get it on, so I tried the next size up and it fitted and did up but was very tight, so I ended up getting the next size up (and the largest size they do in store) :(

So to make myself feel better I bought a huge bread and butter pudding (which I had a quarter of last night - and didnt even bother heating it up) and a four pack of mars bars and snickers bars (which I havent opened yet).

I am going to weigh myself on Saturday just to see what I am looking at...

strawberry fallover

Yesterday we went to Sainsburys for our mid week top up...

James had taken Evie (or rather Evie insisted on going with James) to get some salad bits.

I was looking at the reduced bits and saw a box of strawberry pavlovas

the strawberry fallovers box

Evie saw the box in the trolley and asked if she could hold it and I said no she couldnt as the box had something delicate inside.

She then decided to ask James and he looked at the box and said no she couldnt as it had a delicate strawberry pavlova inside, but we promised that she could have a look at the box when we get home and have what is inside for her dessert :)

We got home and showed her what was in the box and she thought it looked yummy :)

the delicious strawberry fallover

So she had her dinner and it was dessert time and she wanted her "strawberry fallover"

So I put one of the pavlovas on a plate for her and...

...she didnt like the strawberries

so I took the strawberries off

...she didnt like the meringue

so I took the meringue off

...and she didnt like the cream!

So I ate it :)

almost all bought

On Friday on hos home from work James asked me if I wanted him to look in Matalan for the rest of Evies school uniform.

So I said "yes please" and rattled off a whole list of what we still needed...

...he then texted me back to say that there were till issues in there and he couldnt be bothered to wait for them to sort them out.

So yesterday after doing the grocery shopping (in there I managed to get one packet of 3 polo shirts and some PE shorts), we went via Matalan and I had a look in there while James kept Evie entertained :)

So I went in there and found there school shop...

I bought her a couple more summer dresses, a couple of pairs of trousers, 6 pairs of white socks, and a couple of cardigans :)

I only have a few more bits to buy for her now :)

decorate your own egg

In Sainsburys the other week I bought Evie a Decorate your own egg...

...on Easter Sunday I got Evie to chose which egg she wanted (she chose her buttons egg) then later in the afternoon I heard a bang coming from the stairs and Evie had thrown her "decorate your own egg" down the stairs (as she didnt want to carry it)

No I dont know where she got that habit from ;o) *coughs* ;o)

Anyway yesterday we decided to do decorate the egg.

I got a table ready with newspaper (in case any of the icing went astray) and opened the egg and sure enough it was slightly broken (but not enough to ruin decorating the egg).

Evie squeezing the icing on

and from the side

i managed to capture it dripping out

I tried to do a smily face

it wont be long...

Yesterday we were doing some grocery shopping and Evie insisted on pushing the shopping cart ;o)

pushing the trolley

All we have to do now is get her to learn how to read and she will be able to get all of the shopping for us ;o)

Although I have the feeling that the shopping would consist of chocolate and crisps and not much else! A bit like I wish that I could get really ;o)

Sunday, 24 January 2016

part of the shopping

For the last couple of supermarket visits we have let Evie sit in the trolley...

she was a packet of frozen peas ;o)
...she enjoys being part of the shopping ;o)

hoping to go on a marmite breadstick hunt

Following my unexpected find on Tuesday, yesterday when we did a mid week shop I scoured the crackers aisle for marmite breadsticks, but I couldnt see them.

So hopefully today we will pop into town and I can check out w h smith to see if the one in town stocks them too (otherwise I will see if I can order them).

I will also check out the supermarket in town too.

Evie tried my marmite breadsticks on Tuesday, first of all I thought that she liked them because she took the bag off of me then she handed them back saying that she didnt like them!

Mum will be gutted

I was at broomfield hospital this morning picking up evies new pair of glasses.

After getting ourselves a drink (a skinny latte and a kids hot chocolate) I decided to look in the on site w h Smith.

I'm really glad that we did because I saw that they have marmite breadsticks...

...yes they're back, so I asked the lady cashier if they would have them in the high street branch too and she said that they should as they order from the same supplier.

I have promised Evie that she can try them too, she will probably like them as she likes twiglets...

...so another thing to possibly share with her.

And the reason that my mum will be gutted is because she returned back to Holland last night.

bumps and bargains

On Friday (having dropped Evie off at pre school) I was happily watching IACGMOOH and my mobile starts ringing and I look at the screen and its Evies pre school...

...so I answered the phone and was told that Evie had an accident in the playground and has bumped her head and can I come and get her.

So I got to her pre school and looked through the door (waiting to be let it) and I could see Evie sitting with one of the ladies there and I could see the huge bump on her head.

I was let in and I said to Eve "thats a bump and a half isnt it" I half expected her to start crying when she saw me but she didnt and she was ok in herself and even asked me if I had some crisps for her to have on our way home (I did ;o)).

They told me that Evie was playing with another girl and their legs were entwined and Evie tripped and didnt put her hands out to stop herself from hitting the ground.

I was told that she was having lots of fun before that happened and she was very brave and didnt cry.

Before we left I had to sign the accident form.

a bump on the noggin
As my camera has a black spot on some of my photos (cant find any when I am looking for them typically) I am going to treat myself to a new one as my Christmas present ;o)

I have seen a bridge camera (does it mean that I have to take photos of bridges with it?) in Argos and saw in their Black Friday offers leaflet that the one I wanted had some more money off of it.

So we popped into Argos on our way home from doing the food shopping (we cant go on Sundays anymore as Evie does her tap dancing), I got the camera plus a new camera case and a couple of presents for Evie ;o)

too boiled eggy

On Friday Evie was playing by putting a stress ball into a plastic jelly pot and was pretending that it was a boiled egg ;o)

So I asked her "would you like a boiled egg fro your lunch" and she said "yes please", so after I had got us dressed and cleared up from breakfast we went to Asda to buy some eggs ;o)

So we got home with our bags of shopping (yes I did end up buying more than just eggs) I put the kettle onto boil and filled up a bowl with cold water (to cool the egg down quicker).

As I had bought large eggs I boiled one for 5 minutes and put in in the bowl o cold water while the bread toasted.

Then I put some butter on the toast and cut it into thin soldiers and put her egg into an egg cup and brought it into her...

...I showed her how to smash the top of the egg with the spoon and took off the broken shell bits and then removed the top of the egg white and she ate it (she didnt spit it which was our first hurdle ;o)).

Then I showed her how to dip the soldiers and she enjoyed doing that and even eating them with the yolk on (which was our second hurdle).

dipping her soldier

Then she decided that she just wanted to eat the toast so I started spoon feeding the egg to her - she had 2 spoonfuls (one egg white and one egg white and runny yolk) and she told me that she didnt like the boiled egg, so I asked her what she didnt like about it and she said that it was too boiled eggy ;o)

the egg was too boiled eggy
You really cant argue with logic like that I suppose ;o)
