we both got tennis players

The theme with this weeks Project Flickr is The Olympics.

With the theme in mind I was looking out for any Olympics type photos that I could take...

...and I saw the Team GB lego mini figures.

My first thought was to take a photo for the project then I thought that I could get one for Evie.

So I ended up buying three one for me and one for James too (otherwise he would only feel left out ;o)).

So I got them home.

I told James that we had bought him a present ;o)

He opened up his one and he got the tennis player, and when I opened mine I got the tennis player too!

Well at least they could have a game together ;o)

thank you Evie

Thank you Evie for being born and not making Mummy go to work during the Olympic Games.

I just know that travelling into London on the train would have been a complete nightmare especially as all trains stop at Stratford (where the Olympic Park is).

Evie decided to cheer on Team GB on the day of he opening ceremony ;o)

they are calling them Summer opening times

We were in Marks & Spencer yesterday and saw a sign about their Summer Opening times, this must be the relaxing of the Sunday trading law that i heard would be happening.

So with this tidbit of information I decided that we should see if Sainsburys would be open earlier too, lol I even made James go home via there yesterday ;o)  There was nothing on the door and when I asked at customer services they said that they were open at the normal times 9.30 am to 4pm but you cant buy anything until 10 am.  I really think that Sainsburys are missing a trick here especially with their locality to Stansted Airport and the people who are going to fly to that airport thinking that its in London!  Sorry that is one of my many bugbears.

We are now in the Summer Holidays and six weeks of there being no activities for babies!  Its not like babies dont ever get bored is it?  I popped into the cinema to ask about the Newbies screenings and they told me that they arent being shown during the school holidays as they cant fit them in!  Thats total rubbish and just because with the few people that attend they can make more money out of the school kids - just be honest about it!  They did suggest that we go to see the kids club films instead and they are showing every day during the school holidays.  So I had a look at this weeks offering and it is Diary of a Wimpy Kid which I dont really fancy.

cashing in

I was in Starbucks yesterday after going to the cinema (we saw Snow White & The Huntsman).

And I saw a sign up saying that on Saturday (as the olympic torch goes through Chelmsford) that our store will be open from 5.15am!  I didnt get a chance to take a photo as I was holding Evie (but it did make me smile that they are cashing in.

It seems that the torch is staying overnight in Chelmsford,  It wouldnt surprise me if it stays in The County Hotel or perhaps if they are strapped for cash then it will be more likely be at The Premier Inn

I doubt that we will see the torch as I think that the high street will be rammed with people and as Evie is now sitting up like a big girl I dont think that she will like all of the crowds!

Does this mean that I live in London too?

We were watching Air Crash Investigation the other day and apparently Stansted Airport is on the north east fringes of London!  We are 18 miles from Stansted so does this mean that by using the same reasoning that I live in London too?

I saw the other day that the government are thinking of relaxing the Sunday trading laws
while the Olympic Games are on ;o)  At least something useful will come out of them ;o)

One of the NCT mums mentioned that our cinema is showing films that you can take your baby along to on Wednesday mornings so I wont feel bad if Evie starts crying or such as there will be fellow Mummies in there too.  I had heard that cinemas were doing this but didnt realise that they were doing this at our one.

And afterwards I can take Evie to get weighed as the doctors surgery is nearby too.

the weirdos have descended

This weekend is the V Festival and Chelmsford is over run with festival goers...

I had even considered having Friday off as a days holiday as I was convinced that as I would be travelling when the cheap train tickets are still in force that I wouldnt be able to get a seat.  I was all ready to thrust my bump into someones face so that I could have their seat, I need not had worried as I got a seat in the very first carriage, I happened to be sitting with a few French Foreign Exchange Students though!

Here is a photo of a festival goer on his way to Chelmsford...

now back to the French kids...

...as we were passing the Olympic Stadium I heard a voice (from further down the carriage) shout out that on the left is the Olympic Stadium and then she translated it into French too, the kids that I were sitting with just vaguely looked up form their smart phones to have a glance out of the window.

We pulled into Chelmsford and a few obvious looking festival goers got off of the train, Im guessing that loads more were going to arrive later in the evening.

We normally go into town early on Saturday morning so managed to avoid the influx of people

Following on from buying maternity trousers the other week I bought a few tops yesterday, and will have to look to buy a few more online.

You really would think that more shops would sell maternity stuff!

olympic torch relay route

I glanced up at the tv this morning and saw that the Olympic Torch relay route has been announced...

...and yes my first thought was are they going to go through Chelmsford? For those of you who thought the same thing yes it is ;o) It comes through (or rather goes through because Im at work) Chelmsford on day 49 Friday 6th July, if I happen to be off work that day then I will definitely try to get a few shots.

Apparently the Olympic Torch will go to within an hours travel of 95% of the population...

...as I tend to walk (if I am not being driven by my chauffeur) then it is correct in my case ;o)

It does make me wonder though what mode of travel they are taking into account.

ever expanding London

In todays metro there is a huge spread on the Olympics, and where the various events are being held...

...if you exclude the football or soccer to my US friends then London encompasses Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire to the North and Dorset to the West...

...ok admittedly Essex, Herts and Bucks are part of the Home Counties, but Dorset that is nowhere near London!

LOL I see a bit of artistic license at work ;o)

dont expect four mid week posts every week

I cant believe that last week had so much going on that I did four mid week posts!

One thing that I didnt mention was that on Tuesday it was two years to the day until the Olympic torch will be lit in London. The Mayor of London Boris Johnson mentioned that the search is now on for Olympic helpers and ambassadors.

I thought that this was something that James could do until Boris mentioned that they didnt want anyone annoying! I bluntly said to James "this puts you out then" he looked a bit upset, then thought for a while and said "I suppose they dont want perfectionists" ;o).

On a plus point I weighed myself this morning and saw that I have lost two pounds ;o)
