filling next week

Next week is the half term holiday...

...we have an eye appointment one day, hairdressers (and getting her feet measured after) another day and lunch with James Mum & Dad another day.

Which means we have 2 days to think of stuff to do.

I would like to go to the cinema, there are a few good things on so I will have to see what takes her fancy.

At the moment she doesnt want to see anything!

she didnt need a toilet break

Yesterday we got into town in good time to go to the cinema...

...we still (or rather I told Evie that I thought that it would be the better film) decided to see Despicable Me 3.

I got us an aisle seat and one next to it :)

Everytime I looked around at Evie she was staring at the screen and event better than tht she didnt need any toilet breaks (which is a sign of a great film) :)

Evies favourite part of the film was when Gru & Dru were camouflaged, and my favourite parts were when the minions were in jail :)

Evie says that she doesnt want to go again but we will see if anything good takes her fancy :)

I forgot the best bit

I was sitting there watching tv after doing yesterdays blog post and realised that I had forgotten the best bit...

...I weighed myself on Saturday and had lost another 3 lbs so that is 1 lb short of my 4 stone target target or 55 lbs in total :)

A little bit later there was a knock at the door so I answered it and it was Evies teacher Mr F saying that he had forgotten (with all of the rush on Friday) to give the kids their leaving presents...

I called Evie to the front door so she could say thank you to him so that was good :)

...Evie got this book :)

Me & Evie are going to the cinema today - we are planning on seeing Despicable Me 3 but it could always change.

three DVDs

The other day I downloaded Trolls album, and on Friday I played the music for us on my smartphone before we got up :)

Evie told me that she wanted to watch the film, so I asked her if she wanted me to buy it and she said no..

She also said last week (on Monday) that she wanted to see Sing so I said that we could go and see it at the cinema as it was being shown as a kids club movie (she told me that her baby dolly wanted to see it) then on Tuesday morning she decided that dolly didnt want to see it after all!

Then she told me that she wanted to see Ballerina...

...so today we went into HMV and bought the DVDs we havent watched any of them yet, perhaps we can watch one tomorrow (as her school has a teacher training day).

Poppy should have been a smurf

Yesterday I took Evie to see The Smurfs Movie and because it wasnt a Kids Club film we had to pay full price.

Evie loved the film and didnt even "need" to go to the toilet, so in that respect it was a success :)

I personally preferred Trolls.

When I asked her what her favourite part of the film was she kept on saying "it was when Poppy..." Poppy is a Troll and not a Smurf :)

We saw James after and he said that he would like to go to the cinema with us next time, but he is bound to change his mind.

the Easter holidays

Evie broke up on Friday for the Easter holidays...

...we have a few things planned... :)

On Monday were getting Evies hair cut and getting her feet measured (not both at the same time).

And one day in the week (not sure which day yet) Im going to take Evie to the cinema - she wants to watch The Smurfs Film.

We have already prewarned her that there is bound to be a scary bit in the middle but it will have a happy ending (hopefully :)).

trolls it was

We got up, and went downstairs and I did our breakfast as soon as we got downstairs.

Evie even ate her breakfast quickly.

She then got dressed while I was doing the washing up.

I hadnt even finished and she was dressed :)

I then got myself dressed quickly, got together our snacks (2 bags of popcorn,1 bag of chocolate buttons and a fruit peeler), and some water.

And we headed to the cinema.

We got there in plenty of time to see Trolls so that was good.

I was surprised how many people were seeing the film considering how long it had been out, it is obviously still a popular movie :)

There were a few scary parts that Evie didnt like, but I assured her that the film would have a happy ending and we stayed until the end.

Evies favourite part was when Poppy saved the trolls and her least liked part was when the Bergens tried to eat the trolls.

Overall she liked the film, but wouldnt like to see it again (at the moment) even though she knows it ends well.

We are going to see whats on in the Easter holidays and hopefully go to the cinema again :)

trolls or sing

Today we are going to go to the cinema...

..what we see depends on how quick a certain person takes to get herself dressed :)

When she woke up I asked her if she could remember what we were doing today and she said "were going to the cinema" and I said to her and what are we going to see and she said "Trolls if I get dressed in time and Sing if I dont"

And then we will go to McDonalds for lunch, Evie will want a happy meal and Im going to have a chicken sandwich without mayonnaise (not only is it calorific but I dont like it anyway) :).

Finding a cinema film to watch

I have been toying with taking Evie to the cinema during the school holidays...

...the question is what to take her to watch?

I was going to take her to see The Secret Life of Pets

Then we saw an advert for Finding Dory...

And Evie said I want to watch the film about the fishes :)

...so as not to waste £16.00 (seriously that is how much it is going to cost me & Evie to go) not including drinks or "pick n mix" I have set the sky+ box to record Finding Nemo...

...and I have told her that if she doesnt watch the film on the tv then we cant go to the cinema.

stumbling e-mail

Just recently Evie has started stumbling over her words...

...she is definitely not stuttering but she is definitely stumbling over what she is saying!

I was going to ask at pre-school about it yesterday but found this article first, so we are just going to see how she gets on.

When I took Evie to the cinema to see the Peppa Pig Movie I sent an e-mail after to the Film Review show, and last night I finally got to the podcast for the week that I e-mailed in and they got to the Peppa Pig Movie in the top ten and Edith says that she has an e-mail from Amber & Evie ;o)  The Peppa Pig bit starts just after 19 minutes in ;o).

I came downstairs and told James (as I was lying in bed listening to it) and he said that he will listen to the podcast and will cut out the segment for Evie to listen to when she is older ;o).  I think that we should keep the whole show for her so that she can hear what else was on etc.

Me & Evie have a dentist appointment this morning too,

wardrobe top ups

Last week I was sorting out Evies next load of clothes.

It made me realise that I didnt have enough long sleeved pajamas for her...

...so today in Sainsburys I had a look at their pjs knowing that the neck holes are on the tight size (allthough the normal clothes are fine - I dont get that at all!) .  The few long sleeved ones they had did have small neck openings so I decided to have a look in Mothercare instead.

While we were in town having a post food shopping skinny latte/hot chocolate with cream (you can hazard a guess as to who had what if you like ;o)), we had a look in Mothercare at their pajamas.

I saw these and got these as well (after seeing Cinderella at the cinema last week), while I was in there I also bought Evie this dress as it reminded me of dungarees I had when I was little ;o)

afternoon #1 and Peppa Pig Movie

Yesterday morning I took Evie to see the new Peppa Pig Movie ;o)

She had a great time and was sitting there entranced for the entire screening ;o)

I asked her after what she liked best about the film and she said "naughty Mrs Duck" and I asked her if she liked the cinema and she said "yes" and then I asked if she would like to go to the cinema again ad she said "no" but then she says that about everything ;o)

So we got home (I had been telling her yesterday that when we got home from the cinema that I would put her in knickers so that she can use the toilet or potty) and she started crying saying that she didnt want to wear knickers (so I gave her a cuddle and told her that it would be ok and that she will be going to the toilet like Mummy & Daddy).

I had already dressed Evie in a skirt with some tights that morning so when I took her nappy off I let her chose her own knickers and some sock (to keep her feet nice and warm).

I have been setting the kitchen timer app on my smartphone for every 20 minutes and we go up to the toilet so that she can try to go.

We had several accidents yesterday (I tried to keep count and think that there was eight or nine) and after Evie did a wee on the carpet James got her to sit on her potty (she was sitting there for about half an hour watching Peppa Pig) and when she got up there was a huge wee in there...

...not sure if she knew that she had done it or not but she got 2 chocolate buttons and a sticker for her potty ;o)

At one point yesterday she did tell me that she had done a wee on the carpet.

She is watching tv and eating her toast and hasnt done anything in the toilet/potty or otherwise yet since taking her nappy off this morning.

She hasnt done a poop since Saturday now so hopefully she will want to do it on the toilet or potty today ;o)

plan of action

After seeing Peppa Pig at the cinema tomorrow we will go home and I will change Evies nappy and put her in a dress or skirt so its easy for her to go to the toilet and hopefully *crosses fingers, toes, legs, arms and eyes* she will take to using the toilet really easily.

We have 28 pairs of knickers all washed, three potties (one downstairs and two upstairs) and a mini mouse toilet seat ;o)

and bags full of enthusiasm ;o)

two swallows*

*disclaimer - no actual swallows are featured in this post ;o)

For the last few weeks now I (or rather we) have been sitting Evie on the toilet every time we change her nappy.

A couple of weeks ago she actually did a wee on the toilet (she got a high five, a chocolate button and got to stick a sticker on her step up stool).

I told James about it and he said that "perhaps we should stick her in knickers" to capitalise on the success (but I just put it down to it being a a fluke) I could hear my Mums words saying "two swallows dont make a summer".

Then last week when I picked Evie up from pre-school they told me that Evie said that she wanted to do a poop so they sat her on the toilet and she did a wee ;o)

She hasnt said since that she would like to do a wee or poop on the toilet but that could just be because its me & James...

Because its half term next week (and that means apart from going to the cinema on Monday morning) we have a clear week we are gong to start potty training ;o)  Otherwise we would have to wait until Easter!

We have 28 pairs of knickers (one friend told me that you cant have too many pairs).

We have 18 pairs in age 2-3 (she is still in her 2-3 clothes) and 10 pairs (that we bought yesterday) in age 3-4.

I know that some are going to have to be thrown away so hopefully we will have enough ;o)

plug in vapour

On Monday at Tumble Tots I was talking to a Mum and a childrens Nanny and was saying that Evie didnt sleep too well the night before because her nose was blocked up despite all of the vapour rub I was rubbing onto her chest/back.

They both suggested that we try a plug in vapour while she is asleep and that they really help.

So on Tuesday we went into town, I popped into Tesco (to get James lunch) and while we were in there I had to buy some more Calpol anyway so I had a look for the vapour things and found this ;o)

Evie had a great nights sleep on Tuesday night and had another good night last night too ;o)

Me & James have now both got her cold too :o(

On Tuesday evening my friend texted me to tell me that she has bought the tickets for the new Peppa Pig Movie, the cinema now has the cheek to charge adults as well as kids.

a first proper cinema visit

One of the NCT mums e-mailed us other Mums to say that during half term in February there will be Peppa Pig The Golden Boots on at the Cinema.

It looks like there will be four of us Mums with five children going to see the film ;o)

OINK ;o)

wearing glasses like Mummy

A  few months ago James bought home a pair of 3d glasses (like the ones you get at the cinema). Incidentally I have kept the pair from when I took Evie to the newbie showing of Men In Black 3 ;o)

The other day Evie bought me over the 3D glasses (minus the lenses) so that I could put them on her ;o)

It reminds me a bit of Lenny Henry doing Trevor McDoughnut ;o)

first second and third opinions

Following my post from Thursday Evie woke up on Friday morning and the spots had spread to her face and the ones that she had on her chest and back still hadnt blistered.

So while Evie was having her breakfast I called the doctors surgery to book her an appointment...

...so I explained to the receptionist about the spots and she said that we would have to wait in a side room (I dont mind in the slightest as it means that she cant pick up any other germs).

So we got to the surgery and I signed us in on the touchscreen by reception and told the receptionist that we were told to wait in a side room - we were lead into an examination room with just enough room for the buggy and I sat on the couch.

The doctor that we were supposed to see had been called out on an urgent matter and we were seen by her registrar...

I undressed Evie so that she could see the spots and she ran her fingers over them and said that they looked like a viral rash (so not contagious) but she would get another doctor to have a look, and that children sometimes get rashes when they get a bug but they do grow out of it thankfully.

So a second doctor had a look and because I said that we first noticed the spots on her ears she wanted to get a third opinion!

So the third doctor had a look and said that it was just the gastroenteritis working its way out of her system and the rash was a sign that she was almost over it.

We were about to go food shopping this morning and James said that there was a frozen worm in the garden!

on close inspection (I made James put on a pair of rubber gloves and made him wear the 3D glasses that I got when we saw Men in Black 3D) we realised after jabbing it with a fork that it was a spaghetti strand from Evies dinner last night of spaghetti and meatballs!

it went spectacularly wrong

On Wednesday after going to the cinema to see ParaNorman I took Evie to get weighed at the Doctors Surgery.

I asked the health visitor when I should start increasing Evies food and decreasing her milk, and she said that Evie should only be having two bottles a day now (one on the morning and one at night) and to replace the others with water, she currently has four (one with each feed).

So that evening with her dinner I gave her water instead and I didnt get any screaming for milk (so all was going well) ;o)

Yesterday I gave Evie some milk after her porridge and crumpet and then at lunchtime I gave her her water and she drank some of it (still no screaming) but then two hours later she started to really cry so I though that she must be thirsty so gave her some more water...

...she drank it and then started really really crying so I did her her milk as I could tell that she wasnt going to stop until she got some.

Then at dinner I gave her water again and she was ok and then I gave her her last feed just before we went to bed.

At least I cut out one bottle, I shall ask the health visitor when I see her in a couple of weeks time how I should go about it.

sympathetic snot

On Thursday or Friday last week we had real tears with Evie and when I felt her gums I could feel that her top two teeth are coming through.

Anyway yesterday we both woke up with runny noses (with clear snot) which hasnt got any worse.

James was texting his Mum yesterday and she said that it might be to do with her teeth, this makes me think do I have sympathetic snot? ;o)

I hope that she is ok today as I want to take her to the Newbies showing of ParaNorman ;o)
