despite being a chocoholic I have managed to lose 4 and a half stone in 12 months. This is my diary of the highs and lows of trying to keep the weight off (or at least under reasonable control).

Mr J is here to stay
Since the beginning of September Mrs B has been off sick...
...the school havent been very good at giving us updates - we had to collectively bully them into giving us the last update after the half term break.
Yesterday we actually got a parentmail saying that there were staffing changes.
When I read it it said that Mrs B isnt coming back now (due to family issues) and Mr J is staying on until the end of the school year to give the kids continuity and even mentioned the dreaded SATS!
And they will be looking to recruit a new teacher for next year, I think that they will keep Mr J.

a day off sick
Over Evies birthday weekend she had a horrible croup sounding cough...
...it didnt stop us doing birthday stuff on the Saturday though :)
As Evies cough still sounded horrible yesterday morning I kept her off school (after asking in the school facebook group if the school would be ok for her to go in with the cough).
I booked her an appointment at the doctors (just to rule out her being contagious) and it wasnt until yesterday afternoon (by then her cough was sounding chesty) her chest is clear and she is ok to go to school :).
We dont have Gym trail today either (as her last session before the holidays was on Friday) and I am going to pop into Aldi this morning to get our Christmas Dinner (main thing) :)

new shoes and hair cut and valentines day
On Monday we did go to get Evies feet measured...
...she was between an 9.5 and a 10 so she got some new shoes, I will take her to see if she needs some new tap dancing shoes tomorrow as we will be in town meeting James Mum and Dad anyway (unless my cold puts them off :)).
Yesterday Evie got her haircut, she had someone different as my hairdresser decided to take a couple of days off as she has a child too.
Happy Valentines Day too :)

losing my voice
Just in time for the half term holiday...
...I have woken up with a cold, and Im losing my voice!
I will have to see how long my voice lasts and hopefully I wont have to do any shouting :)
Evie has decided that she wants to go into town so we will get her feet measured today and then if she needs new tap shoes we can do them tomorrow perhaps after getting her haircut:)

maths and reading
Yesterday I helped out in Evies class again...
Before Miss B had even taken the register S was sick so she had to be taken to the school office with all of her stuff so her Mum could come and pick her up.
I had to file away some bits of work from Tuesday - it was special church items - I had a look at Evies one again and she drew a cross, a crucifix, a bible and a candle.
I also did some reading with 2 of the children I was supposed to do 3 but didnt have time in the end.
Then after playtime it was maths, and while the children were sitting on the floor with their whiteboards (writing down the answers) I was sharpening pencils, amd I glued some worksheets into some of the maths books.
Then the kids had to do their worksheets and I was asked to help S do her one, so we went through the sums together to work out the answers.
It was then time for me to go home, Evie got upset saying that she would miss me.
I told her to think of something funny that I do and that cheered her up so that was good.

lunches and school trip
Last week when Evie was back to school after having chicken pox, there was a letter in her bag about her very first school trip :)
It said in the letter that .the trip can be paid for on scopay its the same system that is used to book her (at the moment) free school lunches.
So I asked Evie if she liked all of her school lunches and she said yes, I then told her what lunch the school will provide for her school trip and she said that she would like me to do her a packed lunch :)
The letter also asked if I would like to volunteer to be a parent helper, so I said "yes" :)
All of her lunches have now been booked and her school trip has been paid for :)

a weight barrier
Because of my birthday and Evie having Chicken Pox I had a weighing break...
...so when I went to weigh myself yesterday (I do it on scales in a shopping mall) I visualised a weight that I would like to be and one that I would be pleased with...
...I didnt get the one that I would like to be (the chocolate birthday cake that I shared with Evie was the reason for that).
But I did get the weight that I would be happy with :) I managed to lose another 2 lbs so that is 3 and a half stone or 49 lbs so I am really pleased.

spotty class photo day
Back in October Evie had her individual photo done at school - hee hee she has a false smile in her photo :)
When Evie came down with chicken pox on Friday my first thought was that she would miss the class photo...
...but she is better and will be one of the many spotty kids :)

back to school
I decided to take Evie to Boots to see the pharmacist after 1pm (guessing that the kids would have finished their lunchbreak by the time that we waked past) the parade of shops is at the end of the road where her school is :)
We were approaching the school and I could hear that the kids were outside playing so I told Evie that we would walk past fast so that we wouldnt be spotted...
...I then hear A shout "Evie" so we crossed over the road to say hello (as there were now a crowd of them :o)). There are 5 kids off in Evies class at the moment with it).
One of the teaching assistants came over Mrs H and she said that they missed Evie, I told her that we were going to see the pharmacist, and by the amount of scabbed spots on Evies face you can see that we werent making it up :).
Anyway I saw the pharmacist and explained about the spots that hadnt blistered and she said that as long as they havent got fluid in them then she isnt contagious :)
We walked past the school again on on our way home and we saw the kids were sitting in the playgound, Evie was watching them as we walked past, I felt quite bad that she couldnt go in and join them.
Evie is now in her school uniform and I have written out her fist sick note...
She has PE today so they will see that her spots are scabbed up and there are no fluid filled ones.
I even let Evie have a play in the playground on our way home so she enjoyed that :)

flower fairy and foxy
Yesterday we painted the ornaments that we bought....
Evie did her one first
Then I did my one, I had a plan all set up on how I was going to decorate it and Evie decided that she wanted to help!
I was (reluctantly) allowed to paint 2 sunshines on :)
And here they both are together
On the chicken pox front Evie had some spots that came up on Sunday but they still havent blistered, so as I am going to take Evie out for a walk after lunch, I will pop into Boots and ask the pharmacist and will see what they say, as I dont really want to keep her out of school any longer than I have to.

pox pros and cons
Evie has enjoyed the pros of having chicken pox...
...the comics, toys and chocolate cornflake bites :)
but hasnt really liked not being able to go to places (such as going to the toy shop).
We have gone to coffee shops though making sure we sit outside :)
she has mainly got spots on her face back and tummy and as of this morning she has had new ones appear on her legs.
I have to call her school tomorrow so will give them an update.
I was in asda yesterday and bought us a "decorate your own owl" and "fox" ornaments :) Evie has already decided that she wants to do the owl :)

chicken pox birthday party
Im not sure how many of the 6 children in reception with chicken pox were invited to the party but only a couple of them turned up...
L was very self conscious and didnt think that she was allowed to play with anyone, so I told her that she was doing a "service" and helping the kids so their holidays wouldnt get ruined :) I even gave her a "high five" for good measure :)
M went as well and they all seemed to have fun.
The party had a magician and he was quite good :)
Im not sure if Evie interacted with the 2 girls or not so I will have to see if she manages to get it or not.

Interview #6 pox party and packed lunch
Yay I have another interview next Friday, it is with a different insurance place from last time, they said that if I am happy to work 9-5 then they will see me :) As my part time job hunting isnt going too well then I may have to go full time anyway :).
M in Evies class has chicken pox, as well as A, A and L from the other reception class, S in Evies class has her birthday party on Saturday, her Mum said that she was happy for M to come to the party so M's Mum asked us other Mums if we were ok with her going. I said that we were happy and that M shouldnt miss out :)
So the chicken pox party will even have balloons :)
I picked Evie up from school yesterday and asked her what she at of her lunch, she said that she had ate some of it so that was good.
I was really pleased when I opened her box when we got home that she had actually eaten the roll that I had put in there...
...she also ate her jelly and her strawberry fruit string, I am not sure how much cucumber she ate or grapes, she finished her carrot sticks in the playground and had eaten most of the bacon and only had 1 of the cocktail sausages although it looked like she tried 2 of them (just in case the second 1 was nicer :)

Croaky chilli
Don't worry this post doesn't contain frogs :)
Last week I asked Evie again if she wanted a packed lunch on chilli day (which was on Tuesday) and she said that she wanted the chilli.
I was talking the next day to one of the mums and she said that she is a dinner lady and that Evie could ask one of the dinner ladies to pick out the beans for her :).
So I told Evie that she could do that so she had chilli and was ok with it :)
I still have the reminder in my phone for next time in case she has a change of mind.
And I am all croaky this morning.

I now have James cold
Last week James was laid out for most of the week with a cold.
On Friday I started getting sniffly.
Yesterday just five minutes before I was supposed to go and pick Evie up I was starting to fall asleep, but I woke myself up and went and got her.
After having a little bit of a play in the play area we got home.
When James got home I told him about almost falling asleep (hoping that he would say you have a lie down I will stay downstairs with Evie)...
...but no, when I popped up to go to the loo a few minutes later, James was lying in bed playing a game on his phone!
We finally swapped places after Evie had her dinner.
Im not feeling too bad at the moment and I have just taken some paracetamol.

reaching the postbox
Yesterday we sent out our first invitations (to my antenatal friends)...
...on our way to the post box I asked Evie who was going to post the invitations. Was it going to be me or her. She said that she would do it and I would lift her up :)
So we got to the post box and I asked Evie to see if she could reach it...
...and she could (so there was no lifting needed :)) so I handed her each invitation and told her who it was for and she put it in the box (there were only five to do :)).
We have another one to post this morning, so I will let Evie post that one too on our way to the play date that we postponed earlier in the week.

school cold
On Friday morning Evie did a few sneezes and when she was queuing to go into her classroom I noticed her wipe her nose on her sleeve...
...I did offer to blow her nose for her but she didnt want me to.
She came home at the normal time and definitely had a cold.
On Friday night she went to bed early (she wanted to go to bed after she had finished her dinner) and she woke up at about 1.30 am and had a temperature so I gave her some medicine and she went off to sleep.
She has had a cough and didnt feel upto doing her swimming lesson or tap dancing.
I think she is hoping that she "can not feel upto going to school" too tomorrow so that will be fun :)
The new John Lewis has opened in town, so I went there on Friday and bought some of my favourite bodywash although I havent tried that flavour yet :) and Hotel Chocolat has opened too :)
I weighed myself yesterday and have lost another 3 lbs, so that 10 lbs in 6 weeks :)
