being forced to watch more than I wanted to

We had an extra Public Holiday thanks to the Royal Wedding.

LOL not wanting to be chucked into jail  I turned onto one of the many tv channels that was showing it to catch Kate & Wills leaving Westminster Abbey.

Great I thought to myself "I have done my bit"...

So at 8.30 pm I turn on the TV to watch Coronation Street only for a newsflash to come onto screen (complete with coverage) that Kate & Wills are about to go to their evening reception...

...did I want to know this?  NO I DIDNT!

LOL I even checked the on screen tv guide to make sure that they hadnt decided to screw up the evening tv schedule too!

What was the tv coverage like for my non UK friends?

I recorded it and scanned through the parts I didn't want to see. I saw them get married but some of that was boring, I scanned through most of it. I thought Prince Edward's daughters looked like clowns. What was up with Princess Anne, she looked like the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz movie.I can't stand to look at Camila. She was the cause that Williams' mother was so unhappy.

There was a lot of coverage on the cable channels, but it was kind of nice because when I wanted to see what her dress looked like, I just turned on the TV and picked a station and waited five minutes and then I got to watch them walk out on the balcony and kiss a couple times and then go back inside.

But, yeah, everyone was talking about it. And then people were talking about it and getting mad that people were talking about it because a few hundred people died due to a tornado the day before and somehow they took it to mean no one cared about the people that died in the tornado (don't ask me).

Connie - there are a lot of people who dont like Camilla for the same reason...

...In Saturdays newspaper every iconic photo of Kate & Wills they had a corresponding one of Diana & Charles. I myself though that was wrong.

Kelly - I heard about that Tornado...

Incidentally I was just watching an episode of "The Middle" and they mentioned the Royal Wedding!

I did end up watching a little bit, more through lack of anything better to do than anything else and it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting it to be.

I didn't realise that they'd also been showing bits into the evening as well though. I would have thought that the all day coverage and highlights in early evening would have been enough for most people!

There was pretty much no escaping it in the end, save sitting in silence with the TV and radio off.

Incidentally, have you seen the official pictures on Flickr?
