despite being a chocoholic I have managed to lose 4 and a half stone in 12 months. This is my diary of the highs and lows of trying to keep the weight off (or at least under reasonable control).

a call form school
...my heart sank (I didnt want her missing her Christmas lunch with Christmas cracker), the lady told me that it was L from the school office "and not to worry it was nothing bad" :).
It was making sure that I was still happy helping on the history off the page day, and that that morning I will go to the staff room to go through the risk assessment.
So that was all good :)

Mr J is here to stay
...the school havent been very good at giving us updates - we had to collectively bully them into giving us the last update after the half term break.
Yesterday we actually got a parentmail saying that there were staffing changes.
When I read it it said that Mrs B isnt coming back now (due to family issues) and Mr J is staying on until the end of the school year to give the kids continuity and even mentioned the dreaded SATS!
And they will be looking to recruit a new teacher for next year, I think that they will keep Mr J.

No like panini
This morning (as with every morning) I tell evie (or she reads from the menu) what her lunch is that day.
Today it was pork meatballs in a rich tomato sauce served in a panini. Evie immediately said that the didn't want the panini so i told her it was bread and she told me that she still didn't want it.
So i said that she could then just take the meatballs out of the bread and eat them on their own. She was happy about that.
When I picked her up this afternoon I asked her how her lunch was and she said that the dinner lady took the meatballs out of the panini for her, but next time she would like vegetarian, so i explained that the vegetarian was just different meatballs (quorn balls) and that if she didn't like those then I could always do her a packed lunch those days.
So when we got home I put all of the meatballs dates into my phone so that she could then decide nearer the time.
I then saw there was an email from school saying that there was a change to tuesdays week 3, lunch is now going to be meatballs with spaghetti and garlic bread.
It seems that the panini didn't go down well.

size tens
I got Evie size ten shoes and when they were fitted on her they werent too big so it sounds like she would have needed new ones now anyway :)
We still have another week off of school...
On Saturday I heard that some special pokemon were in London and as Chelmsford isnt that far from London I decided (while James looked after Evie) to get the train.
I was sitting on the train and a whole group of glamorously dressed ladies got on and as one was sat next to me I asked her where they were going? She said they were doing a bottomless brunch, she said that I could join them if I liked :) I respectfully declined :)
I did really well and manged to get 27 of them :)

tweet
...I have joined facebook and twitter.
I dont post on facebook publicly only in her year group at school and on pokemon go. I think that my friends and family are a bit miffed that I dont post anything on there :)
And twitter is just for school as tht is the way they notify you of school closures and things like that, and that way I then dont have to turn the pc on just to check if the school is open on days like today,,,,

Q review
As asked by the engineer I rang him to remind him that he was going to come to our house earlier than the 2 PM to 4 PM time slot that we were allocated, I left a voicemail...
They arrived at 1.30 PM so that was good...
One bloke came in to take out the Sky+ HD box and then he fitted the new box while the other engineer donned full gear (helmet, and safety equipment to replace the dish).
They were done in half an hour (I was told that it would take an hour so that was good).
I was able to pick Evie up from school on time too which was my main concern.
The main difference is that if yoiu are downloading a programme to watch such as Coronation Street (there were 2 episodes for me to watch) towards the end of the first episode a countdown timer came up telling me how long until the next episode would play and it also then put a series link in for me! :)
Also if you download a boxset then it automatically downloads the next episode for you too, so I will have to test that :)
I downloaded something for Evie on BBC iPlayer and after the show had finished there was a banner at the bottom of the screen showing the next episode.
The box also tells you when the programme you are watching is ready to view too :)
All in all I like it so far :)
There is even a Sky Q app which I have downloaded, I cant play programmes from my phone anymore but I didnt use that very often anyway...

Another thing to practice
Yesterday when i picked evie up from school, her teacher told me that evie was doing something on the computer and said that she was having trouble as she didnt know where the letters on the keys were. We should practice at home, so i askes her if there were any websites she vould recommend and sge said that all of the websires were on the year 1 page on jer schools website.
So after we had done reading and writing we then switched on the laptop, there was only one non maths website on the page and it needed a newer version of adobe flash and james didnt want me downloading it.
So i did a search for year 1 wordgames and we found one game that evie enjoyed where you have to join words together.
Its funny about evie not knowimg where the letters are as she can send text mwssages on both mine and james phones and they both have qwerty keyboards.
Perhaps i should get her to practice sending text messages too.
So.that will be reading, writing, laptop and texting :)

I would rather have the pork
...Evie normally has the meat option but a couple of weeks ago she said that she doesnt like it.
So last time she had the vegetarian option minus the beans so a cheesy yorkshire pudding,
I have changed it for this Thursday to the vegetarian option again.
I have put it in my phone each time she has it so that she can tell me which she would rather have.

didnt work and low battery
...the other new girl P's didnt work either!
I have a temporary pass that I can use so thats ok.
Way back in 2011 (pre Evie) I was sent a secure key from my bank, it is now saying low battery and I cannot see anyway of changing the battery in it.
I had a look at the website to see how you order a new one and they suggest having a digital secure key!
I dont like the idea of a digital one so I am going to pop into town today and ask if they can order me one/give me one from stock (if they have a stock of them)

im better talking to a person
First I had to download Launchpad Recruits Interview so that I could do it from my smartphone, there was a practice session that you could do as many times that you needed to (to get used to it) in all honesty even if I had done it one hundred times I dont think that I would have been any better as there isnt a person or even an image to speak to...
A question would come up on the screen and then you have 60 seconds to think of your answer. There were six questions in all...
Luckily I didnt freeze but there was some stuttering...
...I just hope that they see can through my nerves :)
I had an e-mail through after saying that my interview was sent through to them, so I will ave to see if they want to see me in person, or I will just end up in deleted items! :)
And I decided against the David Bowie make up :) LOL the tutorial did say to make sure that you were dressed appropriately :)

visp
...yesterday I was checking my e-mails and got an e-mail from them saying that they were impressed with my application :)
And as part of their selection process they would like me to do a video interview.
I have until midnight on Monday to do it...
I was supposed to be meeting a friend for a coffee this morning but she has blown me off, so I will do it after I have taken Evie to school.
Hee hee a part of me is thinking of donning David Bowie type make up to make me stand out from the crowd :)
But my artistry skills are rubbish so perhaps not...

monday phone call
The lady said that she would like to have an informal chat on the phone with me to discuss what experience I have :)
Evie was just watching (yet another toy advert) and piped up that I will have to go to John Adams to buy a chocolate lolly maker for her :)
I remember wanting a chocolate lolly maker when I was little :) we got scalextric instead which was much more playable :)

interview #14 and smartshop
...I think it went well :)
It is a full time fixed 12 month contract working with the protected children team.
Understandably there were a lot of things about confidentiality I would say about what I did in my previous jobs such as shredding expired quotes and not telling brokers information about other clients etc.
I will find out next week.
I got an e-mail yesterday from Sainsburys saying that fast track will no longer be available in our store in three weeks time, but it is being replaced by smart shop...
...it seems that you use your smart phone as the scanning device :) I wonder if they will have one use chargers dotted around the store for you to buy :)
Hee hee you would need to scan it after you had started charging your phone :)

whatsapp interview and interview #14
I think it went ok...
And I have another interview next week(on Wednesday), its for a full time job in the public sector, so I will have to see how that goes.
Wednesday, 30 August 2017
eye check up
...she rattled off all of the letters with no problems with her right eye, but with her left eye she was clearly guessing the letters.
So she is getting new glasses and she is getting an appointment for 8 weeks time (when she is wearing her new glasses) and luckily it co-incides with the half term holidays to see if she can see the letters better.
It takes 2 weeks for her glasses to be made up so I will wait for the text message to say that they are ready to collect.

tears and interview #11
,,,she will no longer be in reception year :(
I think that all us Mums got a bit tearful (there was no actual sobbing) and the teaching assistants were getting tearful too.
Her teacher even gave a speech saying how proud he was of all of the kids and how he would still see them about the school and enjoying seeing them grow up.
He even gave each kid a hug on their way out and so did the teaching assistants so it was all really lovely.
I dont remember getting goodbye hugs from my teachers...
...I think they were just glad to see the back of us :)
We went to the playground on our way home and as I usually do I checked my e-mails...
...and there was an invite to another interview...
...this time for a paid job with a charity.
It is 3 and a half hours a day five days a week.
So I will have to see how it goes.
My interview is on Thursday and James will have to leave work a bit early so he can look after Evie as they didnt want to leave it to after he had finished work.
Sunday, 9 July 2017
a shortish notice party invite
...it was for today, with an apology for the short notice.
So I quickly sent her a text saying Evie would love to go and checked to see if she has whatsapp so I can see who his Mum is :)
I also asked her what J is into so I can buy him a suitable present and his Mum said cars and football (so last Saturday James got him a present in Tesco) so that got sorted too.
This morning I wrapped up the present and Evie wrote out his card.

interview #9
...it was for a key holder - in term time 5pm to 8pm.
As well as making sure the school is secured at the day the job is also to prepare the school for events (the next day) and clearing up afterwards.
And surprisingly enough I have been shortlisted and have an interview on Thursday :)
I had to e-mail back to confirm tht I would attend the interview and my sill smartphone inserted Mr instead of Ms (I didnt spot it until it was too late but I e-mailed back apologising for my phone :)).
Hopefully I havent put her back up before I have even got to the interview :)

unlucky 6 and house colour t-shirt
...oh well...
On Tuesday next week Evie has her very first sports day (James has booked the afternoon off too), I saw an e-mail (form one of the other Mums)saying that in previous years the kids have needed a t-shirt in their house colour...
...so I have the perfect excuse to go into town today to get Evie a green t-shirt :)
and an iced skinny latte :)
and I also have a free six inch sub (from Subway) they have given me 500 points on their app (Im giessing because I havent been in there for a few weeks and they are trying to lure me back) and I have until Friday to use it :)
