not so much teething

With the snot coming out of Evies nose (I know too much information) I have now ascertained that the crying last night may not have all been teething related :o(

We are not going out today...

...and I hope that I dont get it or if I do that it is gone by Thursday next week as that is when we have our balloon trip.

teething pain

Last night we put Evie to bed after her last feed and an hour later she started really crying with real tears...

We tried giving her some more milk (so we knew that she wasnt hungry) and she hadnt done a poop so it wasnt that...

...as her 7th & 8th teeth are coming through it must be pain from that, so we gave her some teething granules and James managed to get her back to sleep...

...then an hour and a half later she woke up again and we couldnt give her anything more as you are only supposed to give them to her every two hours and I didnt want to give her any calpol yet (as I didnt want to mix her medicines) and we got her back to sleep.  But I said if she woke up again we would give her some calpol.

At 4am she woke up again and we gave her some calpol and she is still sleeping and I am tired where I didnt have a very good sleep...

half eaten

As Evie is now helping me eat my fruit I have been buying fruit that Evie likes too ;o)

Apple wedges, blueberries and cut up mango ;o)

Evie tends to pick up the blueberries take a bite and then put it back in the container!  She does this several times and has a knack of picking up the uneaten ones while Mummy gets the half eaten ones ;o)

She was also doing it with the mango pieces too but its harder to tell which ones she has bitten ;o)

shiver me timbers

After I got rejected last year I didnt hold out much hope for this year but I registered anyway...

And touch my loot, feel my boot I have been selected to give out Treasure Island ;o)

I know that my Mum will want a copy, and I am going to save a copy for Evie too...

...so I have to work out who to give the other 17 to ;o)

my last blueberry

Us Brits have all heard the slogan "do you love anyone enough to give them your last rolo"

I was sitting last night with Evie sitting on my lap and I was eating a packet of blueberries and Evie was watching me eat them intently, so I gave her a blueberry and she ate it and then she watched me some more...

...she must have eaten three of them before I had nearly finished them so I saved my last blueberry for her ;o)

LOL she is going to have to be a lot quicker to be able to get my last rolo though ;o)

pulling herself up

Since Evie getting frustrated she can now pull herself up all by herself and she even moved her feet to steady herself ;o)

She is also now picking up her sippy cup but doesnt lift it up high enough to get any drink out of it (but it could just be where she is humouring us)...

...she has known (for ages now) that by tipping the cup upside down you can make the water come out ;o)

first easter egg

As Valentines Day is now over and done with it means that there are more Easter Eggs for me to chose from ;o)

So this morning while we were doing the shop I picked up three small eggs and let Evie chose which one she would like ;o)

I held for her a Peppa Pig egg, a milky bar egg, and a chocolate buttons egg...

...she chose the Peppa Pig egg ;o)

I shall have to make sure that I hide it somewhere in case I get peckish and eat it for her beforehand ;o)

common genes

After finishing Evies packet of my first muesli on Sunday we then tried her on Monday on wakey wakey the round ones and after some coaxing I was feeding them to her one at a time ;o)

Yesterday morning she had some crumpet as usual and then I went and did her some cereal ;o)

I have been letting Evie put her hands in her food so that she can feel what it feels like (hee hee Gordon Ramsay does it so why shouldnt Evie ;o)).

She started picking out the "o's" and was putting them in her mouth ;o)

Then came the common bit...

...she picked up a bit of crumpet and was dipping it in the milk and then (even more common) she put it in her mouth!  But she soon saw sense and threw it over the side ;o)

I was so relieved ;o)

Happy Valentines Day

I bought me & James a cupcake each ;o)

not overly impressed

Yesterday was Evies first proper pancake day...

...so I did her pancake (a nice thin one and not the thick monstrosities that I normally make) and left it to cool before she had her dinner.

She only ate about half of her dinner before she started crying to say that she didnt want anymore so I cut of a quarter of the pancake for her and sprinkled a tiny bit of brown sugar on (so that it would be sweet).

So I put a bit of pancake onto a spoon and put it in her mouth but she kept on pushing it out with her tongue and after a few minutes she started crying again to say that she didnt want anymore so I gave her a fruit pouch...

...oh well hopefully she will enjoy it more next time ;o)

first proper pancake day

I am so excited because Evie can have her first proper pancake day ;o)

I have been semi lazy and have bought the ready mixed batter...

...good old m&s ;o)

I will do Evie a pancake when James gets home from work so that it has time to cool down before she has her dinner ;o)

Happy pancake day everyone ;o)

what I wanted to blog about yesterday

I had all intentions of doing a post yesterday but simply forgot to!

How weird is that?  I only remembered that I hadnt done it when James was turning the pc off :o(

I obviously have too much on my mind now ;o)

On Saturday we were getting a few bits before our weekly shop yesterday and James suggested that we try Evie on some some scrambled egg or "geg" which was what I was going to call yesterdays post.

So James made some scrambled egg using one egg and we tried her on it but she kept on pulling it out of her mouth where she didnt like the texture.

Its weird because she will eat snack eggs which contain scrambled egg mixed with mayo (perhaps that is the key there).

Oh well we can try her again in a couple of weeks ;o)

downloading more downloads

Since my last post I have been looking through the BBC podcast catalogue...

I have seen one definite and a few maybes ;o)

The definite (only because I heard this spot on his breakfast show in the 90's) is Simon Mayos Confessions ;o)

The maybes are Kitchen Cabinet I think that Jay Rayner is funny as well as sarcastic so hopefully this will be good ;o)

Another one is Excess Baggage (which appears to have finished now) hopefully Sandi Toksvig wont ruin it...

and finally Letter From America which is something to do with US Presidents through the eyes of a British Journalist Alistair Cooke

Anyway I have loaded all of the Confessions ones that I could get my hands on and one of each of the maybes ;o)

Downloading downloads

Way back when I was at work I would regularly download podcasts to listen to...

...James was and still is sending me links to them.

Recently I started listening to my mp3 player again (I have got into a routine now of listening to something after I have put Evie down after her last feed) and on Monday night I had finished listening to everything I wanted to listen to, so on Tuesday morning I started downloading the next lot of stuff (we are talking over a years worth).

The Mark Kermode podcasts worked ok ;o)

Next came Chris Evans it was saying that the link was broken (I thought to myself ok they must delete the really old ones) I was working through the list and thought surely the ones from the last couple of months should still be available but no!

The only ones that I was able to download were the ones from the last 7 days how ludicrous is that?

And it was the same for Steve Wright too :o(

At least the Spy Museum ones they have their back catalogue on the website so that you can download them all.

From now on I m going to make sure that I download them as and when they are available.

as bad as boots

Yesterday I went to pick up James repeat prescription and decided to try an independent pharmacy  after what happened last time!

So I went in there and paid the prescription charge and waited for them to hand over the tablets.

They called out James name and I confirmed our address and I looked in the bag and there was only one box so I looked at the label on the box and it said 30 tablets...

...I saw red at this point as the prescription says 56 tablets (they clearly didnt even read how many tabets he was due), so I told them that the prescription was wrong and pointed out on the repeat one that it says 56!

I even said that we stopped going to Boots because they messed up one too many times.

The Pharmacist then handed me the revised tablets and I asked "who I could e-mail to complain" and she said "why do you want to complain" and I said "because you gave me the wrong number of tablets" and she said "well I am apologizing now" and then counted out all 56 tablets for me.

Hee hee she then opened the door for me to make sure that I left without causing any more trouble! ;o)

frustrated

At the weekend Evie started leaning on James to stand up holding onto our coffee table...

...she cant do this by herself yet and is getting very frustrated by it.

Off to Gymbabes again today so hopefully they will have some bars up for Evie to practice on ;o)

how and why

Yesterday afternoon we went back into town...

...we were sitting there having our skinny lattes when we noticed that there was a large crowd and some microphones and keyboards etc...

...I then saw the sign up saying about them being a amateur dramatic society - we were hoping that they had already done their stuff and they were going to pack up and leave!

Im guessing that you can see where this is going ;o)

Evie fell asleep on me and then bang on 3.30 they started singing songs from Annie

hee hee I knew it was Annie when they were singing Its a Hard Knock Life,

And yes Evie still slept through it all...

My question is how can Evie sleep through that and yet will wake up when I try to open a packet of biscuits as quietly as possible?

Im guessing that she knows the difference between what noises are worth waking up for ;o)

being a proper mum

I was in Starbucks the other day and while I was waiting for our Venti Skinny Vanilla Spice Lattes I had a look at their pick of the week...

...and blow me down it was a Peppa Pig episode ;o)

So I picked up the card and have just downloaded it so Evie can watch it with me ;o)

While I was on there I also downloaded this Steps album ;o)
