Me and Evie were having her lunch and an old couple sat next to us.
They each had a coffee but never said a word to each other.
The only time that me and James do that is when he is in a bad mood!
despite being a chocoholic I have managed to lose 4 and a half stone in 12 months. This is my diary of the highs and lows of trying to keep the weight off (or at least under reasonable control).

streetlife dance
I was walking into town on Wednesday and a lady walked upto me and gave me a card telling me that there will be a free toddler dance class being held in The Ideas Hub in High Chelmer Shopping Centre on Friday morning (so today).
I popped in there yesterday to find out more about it and have booked me & Evie on for the 10.30 am session the only other session was 11.45 am and that would run into Evies lunchtime...
So we will have to make sure that there is no faffing about by Mummy ;o)

ole for rice
Evie has been picky about eating sandwiches for the last couple of weeks...
..she will maybe take a bite or two and then will play with it.
I am never too sure if its just because she has had a really good breakfast of porridge.
Yesterday while I was getting James lunch I looked at the small salads and picked up a Spanish rice salad and a Mediterranean couscous one.
I let Evie choose which salad she wanted and she put her hand on the Spanish rice one ;o)
The salad consisted of rice, olives, red peppers, butter beans and a dressing, I picked out the olives guessing that she wouldnt like them and I didnt give her any of the red peppers either.
She liked the rice and must have eaten about half of it and she even ate a couple of the butter beans too.
James was in a funny mood when I met up with him and had a go saying that just because I dont like olives doesnt mean that she wont so I let her try a bit and she pulled it out of her mouth - whether this was because she was getting full up or just didnt like it I dont know.
He also said that I shouldnt not give Evie food that I dont like which is totally unfair because I am always giving her stuff that I dont like - I even made a point last night saying that I dont like lasagne that I gave her for her dinner ;o) LOL he didnt say a word ;o)
Today she has the couscous one to try ;o)

a bank holiday joust
We were undecided about what to do on the bank holiday so I had a look online and found that there was a jousting tournament at Headingham Castle...
...so thats what we decided to do ;o)
We got there just after it had opened (our thinking was that if it was rubbish then we could leave early and do something else).
As I had been in the castle before (for a friends wedding in 2003) I let James go in while I sat with Evie on the blanket that I had bought with us.
When James got back he had a look at the stalls (there were only about 8 of them although there was room for more) and then I had a look and bought Evie a chocolate chip cookie to eat (and I got myself a brownie too), I then had a look at the food stands to decide what I wanted for my lunch and decided on a hog roast roll ;o)
Then just before 11.30 we heard them announcing the start of the jester show - he was very funny and was speaking like a child does - first of all we were sitting on the grass and then Evie started trying to crawl away from me so we stood up and when the maypole dancing started we made our way back to where James was (as it was coming up for Evies lunch time) we had just some little snacky bits to eat - she loved sitting on the blanket eating her lunch ;o).
I got my hog roast in a roll it was really nice and came with crackling too ;o)
Then at 12.30 the show started - King Henry VIII was comparing the show and was very funny ;o)
It started with a kids parade (they asked for 6 or 7 children and about 100 went up ;o))
James and Evie were watching the tournament too
The knights then started practicing by picking up severed heads!
Then there was a fight between the 2 blue knights
then the jousting started
then big burly Bob (as in Blackadder Goes Forth) was caught skinny dipping in the lake and was punished by being dragged by a horse while in a sack.
a mustang and a helicopter flew over head
then there was picking up hoops
and a sword fight
and then the end
I really enjoyed the show and told King Henry on our way out ;o)

they will ruin it
I was looking in the Daily Mails tv guide and under their coming here/going there article it mentioned Everybody Loves Raymond (as the coming here part) being an avid fan I read on ;o)
It then says that the BBC are about to film there own version called The Smiths.
All I can say is "did they learn nothing" from the ITV remake of The Golden Girls, Brighton Belles basically in 1993 ITV showed six pilot episodes and the one with the most viewers got a TV series...
...Brighton Belles was the first pilot shown and was (billed as a Golden Girls remake) and thus got the most viewers, it was a rubbish show and followed the original script save for a few English substitutions (the main one I remember as the word slut being replaced by tart). I loved The Golden Girls and watched it every week but Brighton Belles just didnt have the warmth.
The ironic thing is is that Everybody Loves Raymond is shown here on Channel 4 and even if the BBC show The Smiths at the same time then people are still going to watch Everybody Loves Raymond, well I certainly will anyway.

fishes and buns
Yesterday we went to the library for Tots Tales...
...Alison (who has been doing it for the last few weeks) has a toy bag and the last couple of times she has let Evie pick out a toy (we have had a spider and a black sheep) and yesterday she picked out (with Mummys help) a fish ;o).
And Evie then was picked also as buying current bun #3 ;o)

grabbing the spoon
For yesterdays afternoon snack I had Evie on my lap so that she could eat her Jelly ;o)
I had chopped up the jelly (in front of her) with her spoon so that it is easier to get out of the pot, I had managed to give her one spoonful before she had grabbed hold of the spoon and put in her mouth herself.
So I ended up helping her feed herself (she was too busy watching Blues Clues) to realise that I was guiding the jelly onto her spoon ;o)

almost twice now
For two days running now it has looked like Evie was about to take her first step but she hasnt had the confidence...
...the first time was on Sunday - she was standing at the coffee table and she looked like she was going to take a first step but she grabbed hold of my hand.
And then yesterday at Gymbabes she was holding onto a baby walker and looked like she was going to take a step - in a way Im glad that her playgroup didnt see it before James did.
I know that it will come soon enough and then I will be moaning about her being into everything (although she manages to get into everything anyway!).

more yuck
On Friday I gave Evie the last of the express porridge sachets that I had bought for her (I had got her honey and raspberry and blueberry) last week I then bought some golden syrup and apple and cinnamon.
This morning I tried Evie on the golden syrup one - she must have had about about a quarter of it before she started pulling it out of her mouth!...
...so this morning I bought her more of the other two flavours just in case she doesnt like the apple and cinnamon one also.

more snotty sniffles
Poor Evie has another cold...
She woke up yesterday with a bit of a runny nose and had been snotty all day.
She had a good breakfast and lunch yesterday but didnt eat much of her dinner and wouldnt eat any dessert either (she normally has her dessert even if she doesnt finish her dinner) and she wouldnt have any milk before she went to bed.
We will have to see how she is today - I will try and go out for a walk with her anyway just to stop her from getting bored.

yucky jelly
For Evies afternoon snack she was either having a pot of custard, rice pudding or jelly...
...she started gagging on the rice pudding so that left us with custards and jellies...
...then she started pushing away the custard after only a few mouthfuls...
so that just left the jellies.
Then on Sunday I forgot to buy any pots of ready made jelly (jello for my American friends ;o)) for Evie so on Monday she had to have my last pot of custard and she probably ate about a quarter of it before refusing to eat anymore.
So yesterday I bought Evie six pots of jelly...
two raspberry, and one each of strawberry, orange, blackcurrant and a lemon & lime (which she has never had before).
So yesterday afternoon I gave her the lemon and lime jelly and she started to pull it out of her mouth so I tried to give her another mouthful and she pulled it out again...
...so being completely different to pushing it away like she does when she has had enough I threw away the lemon and lime one and gave her a raspberry one instead and she ate about three quarters of it ;o)
So we wont buy anymore of the lemon and lime ones...

another year older
Its my birthday and I am another year older but not necessarily wiser ;o)
When I had my momentous 40th birthday I would never have guessed that I would be spending my 43rd birthday going to Gymbabes with my little girl...
I have to say that its far nicer than working ;o)
And as Evie gets older my birthdays can only get better ;o)

broken cup holder
The other week I bought a cup holder to put onto the baby stroller.
I have only had it for just over a week and have managed to break it!
I was going into Next just as two ladies with their strollers were coming out so I held the door open for them so they could get out properly - no one bothered holding the door open back for me though...
...so I maneuvered the buggy through the door and heard a "pop" and saw that the cup holder had come off (one of the ladies that I let through picked it up for me) and when I looked at it I saw that the piece that you put into the fitting to hold the cup holder onto the buggy had snapped off.
So I shall look for another one now as I dont think that the old one can be fixed...

not sure what that will do to her poop ;o)
Yesterday while Evie was having her dinner I popped outside to get myself an onion bhaji, Evie looked at what I was eating and looked at me as if to say I want some of that...
...so I let her have a bite thinking that she would spit it out but no she grabbed hold of it and ended up eating about half of it ;o)
I am not looking forward to what it will do to her next poopy nappy - I just hope that it coincides with when James is home ;o)

I should have given her a choice
Yesterday I bought Evie an egg and cress sandwich.
We went to meet James for his lunch and we sat Evie in the high chair and opened the sandwich and she wouldnt eat it, so James took a bite hoping that she would then decide to want some...
...but no she still didnt.
So James ended up going to another shop to buy a chicken and stuffing sandwich and some sushi (she loves eating the rice).
She then ate some of the chicken and stuffing sandwich, and while I was eating the other half she kept on taking bites from it ;o).
Hopefully today we will chose the right flavour between us ;o)

hair band
Ages ago we bought Evie some jersey head wraps but because her hair is quite fine the head wrap is always coming off.
So we decided to buy Evie some hair bands so got her this and this and because it was buy three for two I got her this but I was panicking a bit to pick something (because the woman behind the counter said if I got something for under £3.00 it would be free).
We already have her some hair clips similar to them but they are always coming out.
Oh well they are something for her to grow into ;o)

handing to me and telling me
Yesterday afternoon me & Evie were doing the washing...
...I have to put her in her cot now (with the muslin cloths and bibs) as she just chucks everything about ;o).
So after everything was put away I started to pick up the bibs and cloths and Evie started to hand the muslin cloths to me ;o)
Then yesterday evening Evie was standing by the coffee table and she suddenly started moaning like she was trying to reach something but I couldnt see what she was going for so I took a hunch and checked down the back of her nappy and sure enough there was a poop ;o)
Im not sure if it was just a coincidence - but it will be great for James if she does start telling us as he can never tell when she has done one...
...like the smell isnt obvious enough!

Mummies sandwich is nicer
Yesterday I made Evie a peanut butter sandwich (just one slice of bread folded over as she doesnt tend to eat a lot).
As I had forgotten to make my lunch the night before I went out and bought myself a chicken and stuffing sandwich too.
So we got out Evies sandwich for her and she didnt want to eat it so I said to James (as we had met him during his lunch break) that we could try her on my sandwich to see if she would prefer that one.
She not only liked my one but ate just under half of it ;o)
And that is the most she has ever eaten of a sandwich as far as I remember ;o)
So it looks like I will be buying her shop sandwiches in future (until she gets bored of them).

piggies around the garden
First we had bobbin hands and now if I hold my hand out flat Evie will do round and round the garden well she does one circle with her finger ;o)
And if I hold my foot out and say this little piggy then she will grab hold of my big toe ;o)
