World Book Day

Its World Book Day today James had told me when it was but (as usually happens) it completely slipped my mind!

Anyway I went to the library for Tots Time (it was the same as Rhyme Time).

And I noticed that BBC Essex was there I then saw the World Book Day signs there and had a look on my way out to see what books they would be selling.

I have also learnt another couple of songs to sing with Evie Im a hairy spider (I cant find a link for it) and a open your hands and close them.

On my way out I had a look at the books on offer and picked up this one it cost me £1 because I didnt have a book token.

Calendar Girl tears

I am just watching the film Calendar Girls...

its silly really because I totally forgot that the husband had cancer.

And it is bringing back memories of seeing Emma in hospital.

I am crying not only for the character but for Emma also

Happy Leap Year Day

Its Leap Year Day the day when traditionally a woman can propose to a man!

It was 12 years ago today that I found out that I may be getting made redundant...

I did in the end...

...and the reason I remember the date so clearly was because we were told "thank you for coming in to work today on the only day that you dont get paid for".  So what happens if you were to book the day off as a day holiday?  I havent had the balls yet to find out ;o)

rhyme time

At my local library they run Chelmsford Childrens Centres groups.

The group we went to this morning was Rhyme Time ;o)

The session that we were aiming for was 10am - we werent in time for that one so we caught the 11am session instead and got our places at 10.30 a good half hour before it started ;o)

The first thing thay did were hand out some toys...

...a teddy bear, a scarecrow, a bobbin and a spider!

one of the ladies (there were 2 of them) held in her had a picture of a teddy bear and the child who had the teddy bear then handed the toy back...

and we all did round and round the garden which I have previously tried to do with Evie - the olny area big enough to do it on at the moment is her tummy but then it doesnt givemuch room for "tickle you under there" ;o)

Then came a picture of a scarecrow and we sang Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

Then came a picture of a bobbin and we sang Wind the Bobbin Up

Then came a picture of a spider and we sang Incy Wincy Spider.

Then we sang the Wheels on the Bus.

Then we sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Then the last song we sang was If your happy & you know it.

Even though Evie was too young to participate (and she slept through the whole thing) at least I have learnt some new songs to sing with her ;o)

On Thursday we are going to give Tots Time a go ;o)

saying our goodbyes

Yesterday was my friend Emmas funeral.

I had never been to a funeral before and it was really sad that the first one would end up being for my best friend.

When me and my friends would go up to see a show we would always end up getting lost looking for the theatre (despite having a "map" with us) so it was quite fitting that we were driving around the cemetery looking for the chapel...

...she would have been looking down laughing her head off ;o).

The first thing that started me crying yesterday was seeing a huge mound of earth that was waiting to refill the graves that had been dug.

We went into the chapel and sat in the middle, with me sitting between my 2 friends with their husbands sitting either side.  One friend had her arm linked in mine throughout the service.

The service itself was really nice (the priest was prepped with all of her hobbies).  Her coffin came into Memory and she went out to You will never walk alone, I think that these must have ben suggestions of the priest, as as far as I know Emma never saw either of the musicals that these songs came from.

On Emmas order of service they got her date of birth wrong - what a thing to get missed when it was being proof checked!  I can hear Emma saying bloody cheek they got my birthday wrong ;o).

Next came the burial - after the priest did his bit Emmas Dad said some nice words and then through some white petals in and these were passed around to us to throw some in too.  I threw mine in and said goodbye (I didnt really know what else to say to her).

We then got lost finding the pub were her wake was being held, a spread was laid on and tea, coffee & wine.

Happy pancake day everyone ;o)

I am not looking forward to tomorrow

Tomorrow is my friend Emmas funeral :o(

I am really not looking forward to it but at least ma and my friends can say our goodbyes to see her.

We last saw her in the middle of January when she was still in hospital, she was hoping to be let out of hospital later that week back to her Mum & Dads and how I could bring Evie to see her (which was what I wanted to do anyway) I said that I would definitely do that.

As it was she was released on that Friday but I never had the chance for Evie to see her - I still feel incredibly bad about it :o(

If I had known that was the last time I would ever see her again then I wouldnt have wanted to leave until they chucked me out.

On the plus side I have a busy week this week asside from the funeral I am meeting up with the other NCT Mums on Tuesday for coffee & cake and on Thursday one of my friends (that I am going to the fuberal with) is coming over with her husband.

And...

...wait for it...

...Evie said her first word ;o)

I asked her if she had farted and she said "no" I asked James if he had heard it and he couldnt beieve that she hadnt farted ;o)
