both sets of doors werent working

Like most people I am a creature of habit, I stand in the same place on the platform and sit in the same seat (unless someone has beaten me to it of course).  This morning the train pulls in and the lights on the two sets of doors in the carriage werent alight - the doors wouldnt open!

We then realised that the doors in the other carriages were open so we hotfooted it (in both directions - I went right in case you were wondering) and luckily I managed to still get a seat - I would have been well narked otherwise!

Looking out of the window at the next stations that the train stopped at, people were doing the same thing that I did!

I know that NXEA have an obligation to run as many trains as they can during the peak periods, but at least run trains that us poor passengers customers can get onto!

it felt like I had lost an arm

James switched on the pc yesterday needing to back up (I think thats the term he used) something on his mobile phone. The pc wouldnt even get to the login screen (it said that a driver was missing)

First of all he thought that one of the hard drives had failed, so he put a previous image on and it still wouldnt work.

He spent all of yesterday afternoon doing his stuff trying to fix the pc, he finally got the pc to logon.

So instead of being on the pc yesterday I spent the day watching Coach Trip, as I had sky+ the whole series ;o)

This morning he was up early working on the pc again, and hey presto he got it working... ;o)

Its great having a live in IT person ;o)

five and a half days

Not sure what those of you outside of Europe know about the volcanic ash cloud, but the skies over the UK were closed for five and a half days!

By anyones calculations that is a long time!

One of my friends and her husband were due to fly out to Singapore last Friday (the first full day of the closed skies), they then were going on to Australia (three days later on the Monday). I will have to find out when they get back how they got on.

Eurostar and the passenger ferries were completely sold out, so I bet they were well pleased with the volcanic ash cloud.  As they say every cloud...

Apparently BA forced the government to reopen the skies by flying their planes back before the ban was lifted (I love that pun ;o)).  I guess they are trying to make up ground for their industrial action over Christmas and just before Easter.  As they say it is too little too late!

Im clearly not Jo material

Yesterday I went upto Oxford Street to buy a present for a friends son.

As I have a few trips where I am going to have to use the underground I thought that I would bite the bullet and buy an Oyster Card.  I had to pay a £3.00 deposit but it will save me some money (must remember to look at setting up the auto top up ;o)).

Whilst I was in Oxford Street I thought I might as well look at some dresses for the cruise, I managed to buy three this, this and this ;o)  It was a good job that I was on my own because I ended up going into the changing rooms three times, (it would have done James head in ;o)).

After eventually buying my dresses I then got some lunch and ate it by Marble Arch, I was sitting there and a bloke (in his late twenties I would say) went upto a lady (on her own reading through reports by the looks of it, she was also in her late twenties) and said to her "your not Jo are you?" to which she said no.  He didnt ask me - now I know that Im not Jo BUT I COULD HAVE BEEN!

Happy birthday to you" ;o)

The Palace Theatre is not the The Cliffs Pavilion

On Friday we went to see The Hairy Bikers, we got to The Cliffs Pavilion in plenty of time luckily.

James had an amble on the beach before we went upto where the theatre is, we walk in and it was unusually quiet, there was an assistant walking about and asked if we needed any help, and James said were here to see the Hairy Bikers to which the bloke said they are at The Palace Theatre!  Yes I had got the theatre wrong!

The bloke told us where the other theatre was, so we jump back in the car and go around to the correct theatre.  We finally got there about 15 minutes before the show was due to start.

We showed the usherette our tickets and she told us where our seats were, the seats where she told us we were sitting were 2 rows for the stage - I was sure these were not our seats (as our seats were supposed to be in the dress circle up on the first floor) and sure enough about 5 minutes before the show started some people came up and told us we were sitting in their seats!

So James showed the usherette our tickets again and this time she told us where to go for our correct seats.  To say James was not amused was an understatement!

The show started on time and it was really funny, you can tell that it was all scripted even the squirming by Simon as he was recounting all of his injuries (it was written by Bob Mortimer).  They did some cooking and the smells wafted around the theatre which made us really hungry.

The show didnt end until 10.30 so by the time we got home it was too late to eat anything, luckily I had eaten a packet of melon & grapes before we left home.

The next day I made up for not eating any proper dinner by having 2 slices of fruit toast with jam which was really scrummy ;o).

scuppered by the rain

I was all ready this lunchtime to go out and take some more pictures, as the weather has been improving...

I step out of the door and its raining! Not heavy rain, but just enough to put a stop to my plans.

Im lunching with a couple of friends so there will be no extra pictures tomorrow either, so oh well I will try again next week!

Hoppy Easter

Its Easter Sunday and thank goodness that my cold has almost gone...

I struggled into work for two days last week, sniffling and snuffling so EVERYBODY could hear how unwell I was ;o).

I ended up being off sick Wednesday and Thursday as my nose was well & truly blocked up.  By Friday I was feeling a bit better and luckily it was a bank holiday too ;o).  We ended up going to Southend for the morning.

I wanted to have a portion of chips but the chips that I bought werent very nice - they tasted ok, but werent crispy or hot :o(  Its the last time I buy chips from a non chip shop!

I took my Green & Blacks butterscotch egg with me - it was really nice ;o)

This morning I was finally allowed (with it being Easter Sunday) to open my Chocolate Tasting Club egg - I have only so far had a bit of the milk chocolate egg - but it was scrummy.

The sausage lady bought out the chili & chocolate sausages yesterday too - so I will be having those in the week.

And I only have a three day week - as we have Friday off as we are seeing the Hairy Bikers ;o)
