Yesterday while I was helping out in class the maths they were doing was on capacity of different objects...
a tub, milk bottle, jug box, and bottle
And after Mrs W (Miss B wasnt in yesterday morning) saw how much water each thing held (filling it with a small cup) the children then had to write down in order from greatest to smallest and then do comparisons between 2 objects as a sentence.
Such as "the capacity of the tub is less than the milk bottle".
I was helping J with it (she asked me to help her) and as Evie was sitting at the next table I was checking on her also.
Evie did it all properly and even wrote the sentence in her own words :) The teacher wrote down on the white board how the sentence should be written and then they had to do 1 on their own too.
It was then time to go home and Miss B got us helper Mums an Easter egg each (so that was nice) I told Evie on our way home after school and I told her that she could help me eat it :)
At pick up time Miss B gave me the letter for the doctor in an unsealed envelope so that we could read it.
I read it when Evie was having her dinner..
..there were a few thing in there that I thought were unfair...
...she said that Evie cant ride a bike, she doesnt have a bike and has never tried to ride one.
She also said about Evie sometimes having accidents at school where she is desperate for the toilet and that hasnt happened for about 5 months now.
She also said that Evie writes letters and number backwards (I have only ever seen her get b and d around the wromg way adn that hasnt been for quite a while also.
She also said that Evie cant catch a ball - which she can
She also said that her drawings are immature!
So I am now gathering evidence before our appointment to show the doctor and will video her throwing a ball in the air and catching it.
despite being a chocoholic I have managed to lose 4 and a half stone in 12 months. This is my diary of the highs and lows of trying to keep the weight off (or at least under reasonable control).

parents evening
I went into town yesterday and went into the doctors surgery, I now have an appointment for the school holidays so that is good. I have to get a letter from the school detailing the teachers concerns. I told her teacher this and she said that she will take the letter to the surgery, at least that is something I dont have to remember to bring with me :)
Parents evening was ok, it was the normal things of Evies letter/number formations and sizing and socialising,..
There were no new negatives so that was good too :).

getting things ready
Yesterday while I was helping in Evies class I was helping to get things ready for the parents evening that was last night and tonight...
...our parents evening is tonight...
I did some filing (a number colour picture of the crucifixion).
I had to put new crayons and coloured pencils in the toolboxes on the tables and put the work books in their drawers :)
Then came a teacher chat!
Her teacher thinks that Evie has some sought barrier to her learning and wants me to get her assessed :(
I have asked her teacher to write down all of the things that she feels Evie has problems with (that way I cant miss anything out).
I rang the doctors when I got home and the earliest appointment they could do is after the school holidays.
Im popping into town today anyway so I will ask the doctors if Evie needs to be at the appointment (Im hoping that she wont so she doesnt hear anything negative) and I will hopefully be able to get the assessment on its way.
I was always in the bottom classes in senior school so Evie has got my brain rather than James which is a shame.
I was a bit tearful at hearing this but at least its being picked up on now...

pjs and eggs
Earlier in the week (after I had gotten my unicorn onesie), Evie had decided that she wanted a pajama onesie...
...I told her that I would have a look in town (in Primark) to see if I could get her one...
...I couldnt.
So yesterday as it was snowing again I put on my unicorn onesie and Evie wanted to wear her pajama onesie (which I couldnt get).
So today after I had finished work we went to Asda (Evie insisted that James stayed in the car).
We looked at the pajamas and found a paw patrol onesie, and then she found some flamingo pajamas too, so we got them also.
We also looked at the Easter eggs and bought one for me, Evie told me that we were going to share it after I had bought it :)

starfish toast
Yesterday while helping in Evies class I had to do some filing...
it was a seder plate for passover, the kids had to draw pictures of the various foods.
For English they had to write a pirate menu - the only thing Evie can remember writing is starfish toast - yummy :)
During singing assembly I read with D and S which was nice.
Then after breaktime it was maths and the kids were measuring things - using cubes/pencils/A4 whiteboards.
Evie told me that she measured the interactive whiteboard, the toolbox on their table, a book and a pencil :)
Then it was time for me to go home and Evie was upset about me going home again...
...the morning went quickly again so that was good :)

invitation and lunch
When me & Evie were walking to school she started getting upset telling me that she was going to miss me after our lunch...
...I told her that after all morning with me and lunch then she would probably be pleased to see the back of me for a couple of hours :)
She wasnt having any of it!
So when the school gates opened she walked in and I watched her walk into her classroom before going in through the school office.
I double checked that I was having lunch with Evie and yes I was (I was one of the last people to get a space so I was pleased) I think its bad that they couldnt have spaces for all of the parents so that was a shame.
I went into the classroom and I had to do some filing it was just writing letters of the alphabet.
hen it was English and they had to write invitations to the 200th birthday party of the lighthouse, as part of their Lighthouse Keeper things that they are doing.
I read with L which was nice too :)
I then had to sort out more of their reading books, and then it was time for lunch.
So I waited outside the main hall until it was time for Evies class to go in...
...when it was time L (who was going to sit with us decided to go in on her own anyway) so I waited for Evie and she gave me a big hug and we went in.
Evie got both of our trays and I got our cups and we each got our cutlery.
Our lunch was really nice I tried some of Evies gravy (as I dont really like gravy) and in return Evie tried some of my stuffing (she didnt like it and didnt spit it out but I got her to wash it down with some milk). The dessert was nice too, and Evie ate everything...
...its the first time I have seen her do that at school so that was good.
And we even finished in time for her to have a play after too (which we didnt last time).
Then it was time for me to go and Evie did get upset but then she was waving at me without looking at me so that was good :)

helping and lunch
Not only am I helping in Evies class today, but we also have another Year 1 lunch experience...
...today its roast chicken with yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, and seasonal veg with fruity jelly for dessert :)
When they gave the forms out they said that spaces were limited and the morning I handed in my form with £2.50 a couple of hours later there was a parentmail message saying not to hand in any more forms as all of the spaces had been allocated.
Evie has even said that she wont get upset today when I leave her class as she knows that she is having lunch with me.
Another Mum asked me if her daughter L can sit with us also that will be nice hopefully it will make Evie eat a bit quicker and will take her mind off me going home after our lunch.

back to normal cold
The weather is now back to normal :)
It is still cold but not enough to make your fingers numb like it was during the Beast from the East.
Evie refused to go out on Friday in the end, and to be honest after we stepped outside just to have a little walk I didnt blame her.
So we switched on the heating and watched endless childrens tv - which is ok for a day but by day 3 it gets boring.
School should be open again tomorrow thank goodness :)

another snowday
We are having another snowday (the school site and approaching roads and paths arent safe)...
...provided James walk into work was ok me & Evie will head into town...
...I have dug out two pairs of really warm bedsocks that we can both wear (although getting Evie to wear anything that is too big is always a challenge) and I will get her to wear her onesie again.
The problem yesterday for her was that she felt too cold so hopefully we will have that sorted today :)

snowday too
So today is our second snowday we walked with a lot of moaning and groaning to the local retail park...
...we went to Costa
We both had a warm drink - I even splashed out and got Evie a small hot chocolate :) she was impressed that it came with cream and a flake. She will probably want one again now that she has had the decadence that it is :)
I also bought us a brownie each as we were going to brave the freezing temperatures home again :)
We are back home now in the warm and we will have to see if her school is open tomorrow or not...

tweet
Since having Evie I have been forced to join the digital revolution (more then just posting photos and blogging)...
...I have joined facebook and twitter.
I dont post on facebook publicly only in her year group at school and on pokemon go. I think that my friends and family are a bit miffed that I dont post anything on there :)
And twitter is just for school as tht is the way they notify you of school closures and things like that, and that way I then dont have to turn the pc on just to check if the school is open on days like today,,,,

crunchy not icy
This morning i sent my guinea pig James out to see what the snow was like :)
He told me that it is crunchy and not icy so thats good :)
And as long as we dont get slushy snow today then we should be ok tomorrow too :)
We have another snowday today as the school is closed as the pavements around the school are treacherous!
We were supposed to have parents evening tonight and last nights one was postponed too.
We are going to venture out today we will either walk into town or go to a retail park which is nearby too :)
