plug in vapour

On Monday at Tumble Tots I was talking to a Mum and a childrens Nanny and was saying that Evie didnt sleep too well the night before because her nose was blocked up despite all of the vapour rub I was rubbing onto her chest/back.

They both suggested that we try a plug in vapour while she is asleep and that they really help.

So on Tuesday we went into town, I popped into Tesco (to get James lunch) and while we were in there I had to buy some more Calpol anyway so I had a look for the vapour things and found this ;o)

Evie had a great nights sleep on Tuesday night and had another good night last night too ;o)

Me & James have now both got her cold too :o(

On Tuesday evening my friend texted me to tell me that she has bought the tickets for the new Peppa Pig Movie, the cinema now has the cheek to charge adults as well as kids.

scratchy bear & goldilocks & dinosaurs

Last night I was reading to Evie Goldilocks and the three dinosaurs.

I had read it to her on Saturday night too and last night she chose that book again...

...when we got to the end where the dinosaurs were upset at Goldilocks escaping before they had a chance to eat her, Evie said "they dont look very happy do they" I must have said it to her when we were reading it the other night ;o)

Evies absolute favourite book (from the library) at the moment is Itchy Bear, I think she loves it so much because I scratch her in all of the places that Itchy bear is itchy or as Evie calls him "scratchy bear" ;o)

I will definitely keep that book out when we take the other books back this week ;o)

a first proper cinema visit

One of the NCT mums e-mailed us other Mums to say that during half term in February there will be Peppa Pig The Golden Boots on at the Cinema.

It looks like there will be four of us Mums with five children going to see the film ;o)

OINK ;o)

snow much traffic

Yesterday it was snowing and then sleeting.

When we were on our way to drop Evie off at Pre-School I noticed all of the traffic!

traffic in the sleet
I was glad that I took the photo on the way to pre-school as on the way home the traffic was only bad one way '.;o)

When I mentioned it to James that evening he said that it was because the A12 & A127 was shut.

holding hands

Yesterday as Tumble Tots was about to start a little girl grabbed hold of Evies hand and they both sat down.

When it came to the song (that they warm up to) they were still holding hands ;o)

They ended up in the same group and even teamed up together for row row row your boat ;o)

When I asked Evie on our way home what her favourite part of Tumble Tots was she said "row row row your boat" ;o)

no tears...

...yet

I mentioned to Evie when she woke up this morning about it being Tumble Tots today and she had a huge smile on her face ;o)

data usage

As my phone contract runs out at the end of March, I have been looking at the upgrades.

Three dont seem to do "all you can eat" data anymore unless you go for a top package...

...and I certainly dont plan on doing that!

So yesterday I freed up some space (by deleting the kindle app) and have put on my data manager so I can see how much data I am using.

the app on my phone
what I have used so far

It will be interesting to see how much I use as Evie enjoys watching Peppa Pig on my phone ;o)

At least this will arm me with the info as to how much data I will need per month ;o)

oh yes I did

I have booked the panto for this year ;o)

We are seeing Aladdin ;o)

Yesterday we took the stroller back to Mothercare - what a nightmare...

...the woman serving me wasnt going to let me have our money back without a fight.

Firstly she asked me if I had put the raincover on correctly?  Then she asked if the leg rest was up or down?  Then the final straw (for both of us) was when she wanted to sit Evie in the buggy so she could see for herself!

James told her at that point that we were in a hurry and didnt want to hang about in there any longer than we needed to.

They eventually very reluctantly gave us our money back...

...we have ordered a new buggy now online (meaning that that store doesnt get the purchase) but are having it delivered there ;o)

stroller problems

In December we decided to buy a new stroller for Evie...

...her other one was hard to put down and the raincover was so torn that it offered absolutely no protection and the straps on the buggy were too short.

The problem with the new stroller is the raincover...

...it is ok if Evie is awake as she will mostly keep her feet on the footstrap but if she is asleep like she was on Tuesday her feet kept on hanging down and on our way home I was stopping every 100 yards to put her feet back under the cover and on the footstrap!

Needless to say I e-mailed Mothercare and they have said that I can bring the stroller back and get either a replacement or a refund (although they called it a fund).

I have seen another stroller that I liked at the time (but Evie didnt like sitting in it) and I have just looked at the user manual online and the raincover looks like it will be better ;o)

all out and ready

I was just replying to an e-mail from James and he asked if I had seen a text message that he had sent to me...

...so I switched on my phone and the message said "I think that its bins today can you please check and put anything out" so I had a look and sure enough it is bins today, our rubbish collections are still getting back to normal after Christmas/New Year...

...its the black bin (which is the main bin) the green box (glass and aluminium) cardboard sack and the food waste bin.

So I took the bag out of the little kitchen caddy and was about to put it in the food waste bin outside (just wearing a dressing gown) and the bloke said to me "is that food waste, love" and I said yes and he took it off of me, so I said thank you ;o)

At least that was one thing that I didnt have to put out now ;o)

So I wheeled the black bin to the kerb and put the green box next to it and in the green box is the cardboard sack ;o)

Im surprised that Evie didnt want to watch what I was doing but she was engrossed watching Postman Pat ;o)

short lived tears

After Evies bath last night I said to her that she has Tumble Tots tomorrow (as in something to look forward to) and she started crying saying that she didnt like Tumble Tots anymore :o(

I know that its because I dont do it with her anymore, me & James both said to her that it must be nice being able to do things without Mummy saying "be careful" ;o)

Then this morning she woke up (at 6 am) crying saying again that she didnt like Tumble Tots, so I gave her a cuddle and told her that she will really enjoy it and that I will be sitting there watching her with a big smile on my face, and that on our way home she can have a bag of monster munch ;o) she then stopped crying and I asked her if she wanted to get up or go back to sleep and she said that she wanted to go back to sleep ;o)

When she finally woke up I asked her if she was looking forward to Tumble Tots and she said yes ;o)

a better day

After Wednesday I was apprehensive to mention the word school to Evie on Friday...

...as it was she only cried for a couple of minutes.

And then when we came back upstairs to get changed Evie even wanted to help me to get the stuff out that she was going to wear (including her school t-shirt).

Evie has even started helping me by getting out her socks and vests from the drawer ;o)

When it came to taking Evie to school she wanted to get in the buggy (its a mile walk so too far for her little legs at the moment) before I had even turned the tv off, and when we got there she ran off and started to play in the sandbox while I was hanging up her coat and bag ;o)

Yesterday James decided to get his hair cut and so I was left to entertain Evie while we had breakfast in a coffee shop ;o)

Just after James had left Evie decided she wanted to run around.   So to get her to sit down I offered to let her play toddler lock, after 5 minutes Evie was bored again so I offered to find something for her to watch on youtube.

I found the whole of series 3 of Peppa Pig ;o)

engrossed
a big smile ;o)
It makes me wonder what Evie will have on hand to entertain her kids ;o)

When I was a kid I think that my Mum bought colouring books for us to do ;o)

oversleeping and hysterics

I try to get up when James leaves for work at 6 am, but yesterday I was so tired that I fell back asleep.  I woke up and looked at the alarm clock and realised that it was 6.30 am (so not too much later than my usual time).

By the time I was ready to come downstairs Evie was waking up,

So I went in to her room and told her (in an upbeat voice) that she had pre-school today and she started really crying, saying that she didnt want to go and she didnt like it.

So we came downstairs and I did our breakfast, and she was still crying on and off.

Then we went upstairs to get ready (I was all ready for her to start crying again) but she was fine (even when I got out her school t-shirt) and she was fine after that.

She was even ok when we went to the pre-school and was happily chatting to me as I was pushing the buggy.

And she went in and didnt even cry when I said goodbye ;o)

happy epiphany

Just realised its Epiphany...

...so happy Epiphany ;o)

she did fantastically well

Yesterday I explained to Evie that as she is now a big girl that she would do the Tumble Tots class all by herself and that I would sit and watch - Evie was then saying that she didnt want to go, and I was telling her how much she would enjoy it ;o)

We got there and we were sitting down (after taking Evies socks and shoes off) and the ladies running it called the children over...

..so I told Evie to go and sit down with the others and she grabbed hold of my hand to go over with her, but I stayed where I was.

So Evie sat down in a small circle, the lady must have been asking what presents the children got as I heard Evie say that she got a "big present" ;o)

They then did a dance and counted (loud enough for us Mums and Dads to hear) how many children there were (there was 15), the children were then split up into three lots of five ;o)

Evie did really well doing it by herself and only had to be guided back to where she was supposed to be a couple of times.

Hopefully having to sit and listen to instructions means that she will listen to me & James a bit more ;o)

back to normality

James is back at work and me & Evie will be back to our normal routine .;o)

Starting with Tumble Tots this morning...

...as Evie is now three she is doing the big boys and girls session meaning that I can just sit and watch.

I have been trying to explain to her that I will still be there watching and that the other boys and girls will be doing it all by themselves too ;o)

another new year

I know that I say it every year, but I cant believe that its new year already!

We (or rather I) have had quite a lot going on in the last 12 months....

you will have to bear with me as I will be going back through the months to see what the high or low points were ;o)

In January Evie had gastro entoritis and started having swimming lessons and I was told that I would need to have a hernia repair

In February I had a dent in my thigh and then was told that it was just loss of fatty tissue ;o)

March & April werent very interesting

In May we had my birthday

In June I had my hernia repair, went to the three foot people festival, Evie got a big girl bed and I started knitting my epic scarf (which I still havent finished yet)

In July Evie got her glasses and went to the dentist for the very first time.

In August I got a photo published in a Chinese textbook, and went into a church without the spire hitting me in the neck (long story short a lady I used to work with (who was a Sunday school teacher) told me that if I went into a church the spire would fall off and hit me in the neck).

In September we had our first family holiday in Spain and Evie took her very first photo on my phone ;o).

In October Evie drew on the landing wall.

In November Evie started pre-school and our oven nearly exploded.

And in December Evie went to her first ever pantomime, turned three and had her first ever school christmas party.

And now for 12 months of Evie
