they must have thought that he was too stupid to be devious

I was in Marks & Spencers at lunchtime buying my lunch...

...I was walking upto the queue for the self scan tills and I saw a man joining the queue in the wrong place (basically the queue had snaked around and he stood behind the woman who was in the queue just before it started snaking) he then came out of the queue to get himself something else (my first thought was to watch this guy he case he tried to push in front of me).

Anyway he eventually picked up what he wanted and then stood directly behind me (again the queue had started snaking around). In usual British fashion no-one said to him "oi your pushing in the end of the queue is that way", as he hadnt directly pushed in front of me I didnt say anything either, coupled with the fact that you are never too sure if someone will knife you if you confront them.

Im a sucker for new food

On Thursday morning I saw a new A-board outside Starbucks saying about their new breakfast range...

I got into work and eagerly looked at the website to see what goodies were on offer.

The buttermilk pancakes looked interesting as did the sausage and bacon butties (two separate things although Im pretty sure they would work well together).

So yesterday morning I was still unsure as to what I would try...

do I go for the pancakes or a butty? decisions decisions decisions!

I decided to go for the pancakes (decision made) then I was asked if I would like a topping to go with them? I thought that all I would have to do was chose the pancakes I didnt realise that I would still have to chose something else.

So I looked at the toppings on offer (they werent even free I might add) there was maple honey syrup, very berry compote or a mango compote...

arghhhhhh what do I go for? I was told that the berry one was nice so I went for that...

The pancakes were heated in their panini press (at least they werent hard and crispy around the edges like the ones on the cruise were), the very berry compote was ok but I dont think that I would get it again.

This morning I decided I wanted to try a buttie - next question do I go for the bacon or the sausage?

bacon or sausage, sausage or bacon?

I decided to go for sausage - as you cant beat a bit of sausage ;o)

They put the sausage buttie in the panini press and asked if I wanted any sauce - so I said that I didnt...

I eventually got my hot sausage bap buttie and the bottom (where it had been on the hot plate) was as stiff as cardboard and when I opened the buttie to have a look there were 3 halves of sausage and no butter (that I could see) now I dont like butter or margarine (so I was more than happy with their being no butter in there) but surely if something is called a buttie then it should have butter in it.

The sausages were Lincolnshire ones (not that I am a sausage connoisseur or anything).

And no I wont be having a buttie again either (or if I do I will make sure that I eat it cold).

it was that windy

Yesterday afternoon it was that windy...

...that our wheelie bin got blown over...

...twice. Not once but twice!

First of all we thought it was local kids being little a*sholes then when it blew over the second time we realised that it was the weather.

naero aero

I am always on the lookout for new mid morning snacks to take with me to work...

The other week I saw some Aero biscuits as they are only 99 calories each one I decided to buy a packet.

This morning after having a couple of clementines I was still feeling peckish, so I thought to myself that I would try one of those aero biscuits...

I opened the packet and removed one and was struck by how small the chocolate bar was (then I remembered that it is only 99 calories) so I opened it up and bit into it (I managed to eek it out into 3 very small bites) and every teeny mouthful did have biscuit bits in. James would have shoved it in in one foul swoop ;o)

I am glad that I product tested it first as I would have been very disappointed had I had one as one of my mid morning snacks.

I am now saving them to have with my evening cup of tea instead ;o)

a whole plum

I was toasting a crumpet for my breakfast this morning, and got down the jar of plum conserve (thats what its called rather than me trying to sound posh).

The crumpet eventually popped out of the toaster and I put the knife into the jar to remove enough jam conserve to cover the crumpet and ended up with a monumental amount on the knife.

When I spread the contents of the knife onto the crumpet I saw that there was a whole plum ;o)

Was I jammy or what ;o)

olympic torch relay route

I glanced up at the tv this morning and saw that the Olympic Torch relay route has been announced...

...and yes my first thought was are they going to go through Chelmsford? For those of you who thought the same thing yes it is ;o) It comes through (or rather goes through because Im at work) Chelmsford on day 49 Friday 6th July, if I happen to be off work that day then I will definitely try to get a few shots.

Apparently the Olympic Torch will go to within an hours travel of 95% of the population...

...as I tend to walk (if I am not being driven by my chauffeur) then it is correct in my case ;o)

It does make me wonder though what mode of travel they are taking into account.

she was too subtle

Following my post on Thursday, I was pretty sure that a card would be waiting for me on Friday morning...

...guess what? It wasnt!

Anyhow I had already (on my way in) bought some croissants for my workmates.

So when we had our morning cup of tea I got out the croissants to share...

...one colleague (the very one who said that he knew that it was my birthday tomorrow no less) said to me "what are the croissants for? So I said "my birthday" and he then let out an expletive saying that he had forgotten...

...so I said (feeling rather annoyed) even after so and so said that it was my birthday tomorrow?

LOL I eventually got a birthday card at 3.30 pm ;o)

an ex colleague letting the birthday cat out of the bag

An ex-colleague came into the office today...

...she left to become a full-time Mum - also the fact that we were working in Romford at the time and she couldnt meet her mates for lunch also had a large part to play in her leaving.

To say she hated Romford is a huge understatement...

She was standing my desk having a natter and she said to me "isnt it your birthday soon?" so I said yes tomorrow and she said to me "how old are you?" so I said "the same age as you will be in 16 days" and then she said "are the chaps taking you out for lunch" and I said "I dont think so as I think that they have forgotten"

One of my colleagues ears pricked up at this (he does have two ears) and said "have we forgotten your birthday" and I said no its tomorrow, and then my colleague said "yes I remembered" and turned to another colleague and said "You remembered too didnt you".

Yeah of course they did...

...well at least I should get a birthday card tomorrow now ;o)

marmite breadstickless

The last time the shop had run out of marmite breadsticks they had them back in the next week...

...not this time, I have been marmite breadstickless for a month now!

A month with no marmite breadsticks.  I have had to have marmite ricecakes instead and they are nowhere near as nice.

LOL I have even resorted to e-mailing marmite today to find out when I can expect to see them in Chelmsford again.

it gives me the willies just thinking about it

In todays Metro there is an article about corset piercing.

Why would anyone want to get this done.  The guy getting it done on his throat and neck what is wrong with you?

And the scarring?  That is just going to look weird without the ribbon.

It gives me the willies just thinking about it!

being bashed by a 4 ring binder

I got on the train this morning and I found an empty 2 seater seat, and sat down by the window (LOL I like to look at what I am passing ;o)).

This woman sat down next to me and proceeded to get out of her bag an A4 sized ring binder, she had it perched on her lap and the binder itself kept on knocking into my legs.

I really dont get why people insist on doing work on the train (incidentally she is training to be a manager with Asda), I would much rather use the time to listen to something on my MP3 player.

LOL perhaps I just dont have the proper work ethic ;o)

being forced to watch more than I wanted to

We had an extra Public Holiday thanks to the Royal Wedding.

LOL not wanting to be chucked into jail  I turned onto one of the many tv channels that was showing it to catch Kate & Wills leaving Westminster Abbey.

Great I thought to myself "I have done my bit"...

So at 8.30 pm I turn on the TV to watch Coronation Street only for a newsflash to come onto screen (complete with coverage) that Kate & Wills are about to go to their evening reception...

...did I want to know this?  NO I DIDNT!

LOL I even checked the on screen tv guide to make sure that they hadnt decided to screw up the evening tv schedule too!

What was the tv coverage like for my non UK friends?
