cleaning windows in the rain

I was walking to work this morning (in the pouring rain) from the train station and to my amazement I saw a window cleaner and yes he was cleaning windows!

Surely to goodness he would have looked out of the window after getting up this morning see that it was raining and stay in, well at least that is what I would have done anyhow.

I know he is probably self employed and he has contracts to abide to, but still...

My friend's other half is a self employed window cleaner and he doesn't work in the rain. She is constantly complaining about the weather!
I asked her what he does when it's raining and she said he does his eBaying to supplement his income.

It's like the gardeners who look after this part of the estate, they're out in all weathers doing it. It's a good job all their kit is petrol driven otherwise they'd have electrocuted themselves long ago!

I guess he does not care if the windows will look dirty hours after he cleans them.

Eileen - e-baying sounds much better than window cleaning in the rain...

Al - they probably switched to petrol driven machinery to cut down on the paperwork ;o)

Connie - I think the mentality is "as long as I get paid" :o(
