talking and reading

Last night was the literacy evening at Evies school...

...it was good it started with a presentation with another presentation in teh middle and another one at the end...

...inbetween there were activities :)

there was role playing where her teacher dressed up like Goldilocks and she talked about herself and we were invited to ask her questions  - I asked her "what is your favourite topping to have on your porridge?" and she said she "loved jam especially strawberry jam!" :).

another one was describing an animal on a farm and then the other person had to guess what it was.

another one was breaking down the words into separate phonies (dont know if that is the correct spelling or not) such us f-i-sh :)

Another one was reading books without words - to enable the child to look at the pictures (rather than worry about the words) and to guess what will happen next.

Another one was to do with letters and how they sing songs with the sounds in and practice different ways of writing the letters.

But the main thing was to read to/with Evie and do lots of talking :)

It was really good :)

Sounds like you enjoyed your lesson very much. Such a good idea to involve parents in their children's learning.
